Patience allows us to meet challenges peacefully, get along easily with others, accomplish long-term goals, and enjoy life. With patience, we can handle bad drivers and computer glitches without tearing out our hair, master a musical instrument, or raise a child with our sanity in tact. But early on, most of us also absorb a variety of negative patterns and beliefs that undermine our patience. As we grow older, these patterns and beliefs contribute to a state of mind in which we constantly pressure ourselves and others to think and move faster, and never allow ourselves to be comfortable with life as it is. This program can help you change that.Use this guided meditation to uncover and release old programming, and bring patience and peace into your most challenging situations, and all of your life. From the journey: “One by one, the leaves float softly toward you on the current, until you can make out the shape and color of each and watch them float on their way downstream, far out of sight. As you watch, you feel no concern about how long it takes for each leaf to reach you; no pressure over when it will finally pass out of sight. The current carries every one at nature’s pace, and you’re content to simply relax and watch. As you continue to enjoy this lovely setting, take some time to reflect on the following question: What demands do you place on yourself and others that interfere with your ability to relax, enjoy the flow of life, and be at peace....” Language: English.
The Festival, Hörbuch, Digital, 23min
The Festival is a short story by H. P. Lovecraft written in October 1923 and published in the January 1925 issue of Weird Tales. The story was inspired by Lovecraft's first trip to Marblehead, Massachusetts, in December 1922. Lovecraft later called that visit "the most powerful single emotional climax experienced during my nearly forty years of existence."In a flash all the past of New England - all the past of Old England - all the past of Anglo-Saxondom and the Western World - swept over me and identified me with the stupendous totality of all things in such a way as it never did before and never did again. That was the high tide of my life. The narrator's path through Kingsport corresponds to a route to the center of Marblehead; the house with the overhanging second story is probably based on Marblehead's 1 Mugford Street. The church in the story is St. Michael's Episcopal Church on Frog Lane. Built in 1714, it is the oldest Anglican church in New England that is still standing at its original site. The church is on a modest hill; for most of the 18th century, it had a steeple. Its crypt, where parishioners were interred, remains. Since Lovecraft visited the church (as evidenced by his signature in the guest register), he may have spoken with the rector and learned such details about the church.Famous works of the author Howard Phillips Lovecraft: At the Mountains of Madness, The Dreams in the Witch House, The Horror at Red Hook, The Shadow Out of Time, The Shadows over Innsmouth, The Alchemist, Reanimator, Ex Oblivione, Azathoth, The Call of Cthulhu, The Cats of Ulthar, The Festival, The Outsider, The Temple, The Picture in the House, The Shunned House, The Terrible Old Man, The Tomb, Dagon, What the Moon Brings. Frankenstein , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 23min
Frankenstein begins in epistolary form, documenting the correspondence between Captain Robert Walton and his sister, Margaret Walton Saville. Walton sets out to explore the North Pole and expand his scientific knowledge in hopes of achieving fame and friendship. The ship becomes trapped in ice, and, one day, the crew sees a dog sled in the distance, on which there is the figure of a giant man. Hours later, the crew finds a frozen and emaciated man, Victor Frankenstein, in desperate need of sustenance. Frankenstein had been in pursuit of the gigantic man observed by Walton's crew when all but one of his dogs died. He had broken apart his dog sled to make oars and rowed an ice-raft toward the vessel. Frankenstein starts to recover from his exertion and recounts his story to Walton. Before beginning his story, Frankenstein warns Walton of the wretched effects of allowing ambition to push one to aim beyond what one is capable of achieving. In telling his story to the captain, Frankenstein finds peace within himself. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Matt Montanez.
