iamflam: With Special Author's Journal Prologue , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 160min
What in the world is this? Created in "Room 205" of the Snooty Fox Motor Inn in Los Angeles, this tech thriller by Herb Broadway begins with a bizarre personal journal and includes several pieces of short fiction along with episode one of the original novel iamflam. iamflam introduces you to smooth-talking mobile software mogul and internet celebrity Flam Fontaine, his best friend, crunchy snack- and rap music-loving Anchovy, and tough but gorgeous Cynthia "Shakes" Shakespeare. While working on the update to their popular social media app, they find themselves coerced into using their talents and connections to help one of the most dangerous men in the criminal underworld. Spend a little time on the edge of your seat in Flam Fontaine's world, where anything can happen - and nothing is quite what you expect. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this work is the journal that precedes iamflam. Broadway demonstrates a highly interesting and off-the-wall lifestyle while working to clear his writer's block. This product is unlike anything you have ever experienced. With this audiobook, you get the author's journal prologue/prequel, episode one of the fast-moving iamflam series, more than 15 original songs, and productions of several short fiction works. As a bonus, you also get the personal history, adventures, experiences, and observations of Herb Broadway the Younger of the Aberdeen Broadways (which he never meant to publish on any account and will likely be in big trouble for doing so). You will not regret springing for this one. Herb swears. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Herb Broadway, Nikki Delgado. Magically Delicious: Magic and Mayhem, Book 4 , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 269min
What does a hungry, pregnant witch do when her whole freaking town goes on a no-carb diet? I'll tell you what. She goes on the sly and conjures up some anchovy-chocolate chunk cookies dipped in hot sauce - that's what. Of course my cheating gets complicated when all of the magic in the world goes on the fritz. To solve that particular wrinkle, I'll have to finally find the source of the lurking evil. Easier said than done. Maybe if I wasn't pregnant and starving, I could deal with the nasty old witch who resides in a gingerbread house. Add in carb-eating fairies who speak French and three rotund familiars who enjoy defacing property with profane graffiti and what you get is almost more trouble than I can handle in my baby-baking condition. I'm still not convinced I won't be giving birth to puppies since the smokin' hot father of my babies is a werewolf, and no one has given me any concrete proof to the contrary. Getting knocked up by the werewolf of my dreams was all kinds of awesome in practice, but the reality of becoming a mother scares me more than Baba Yaga's horrendous 1980's wardrobe. Monstrous decisions with enormous ramifications are best handled with meticulous planning or - in my case - after eating a giant mustard slathered jelly doughnut. Neither of those options is possible at the moment, but since there is no way I'm bringing my children into a magicless world, winging it will just have to work. Wait...was that a contraction I just felt? Goddess help us all. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Stephanie Riggio. Spaghetti Western: How My Father Brought Italian Food to the West , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 383min
Spaghetti Western is the story of Genesio (Gene) Cioni, his family, community, and the food that made him famous during the fabulous '50s when he introduced Calgary to Italian cooking. Gene's story is the quintessential immigrant success story told with a flair for narrative by his daughter Maria Cioni. Gene was just 16 when he arrived from Antrodoco, in the Abruzzi region of Italy, to find one vibrant, close-knit Italian community in the burgeoning city of Calgary in the 1920s. It is in this unlikely frontier city that Gene left his profession as a barber behind to follow his passion for food and cooking, as he worked his way up from busboy to cook to become one of western Canada's first celebrity chefs. With his wife, Martha, Gene opened Calgary's first Italian restaurant. Maria's recollections of growing up in a restaurant family are authentic, detailed, and perceptive, bringing alive the food and treasured traditions that enriched her family's life. Included in the book are recipes for some of her father's favorite dishes - secret spaghetti sauce for one hundred people, meatballs, polenta, lasagna, gnocchi - along with the secrets behind Gene's original style of cooking Calgary's T-bone steaks, his famous anchovy salad, and how he introduced pizza to his colorful clientele. Italian immigrants frequently faced discrimination and suspicion, especially during the Second World War when they were classified as enemy aliens. For Gene and his German-American wife, Martha, it was doubly difficult. In response, they worked hard to ensure that there would be no bias of any kind in their restaurants. Gene's was a meeting place for Sugarfoot Anderson, Stu Hart, Duke Ellington, Primo Carnera, and city society, including business leaders, sports heroes, and politicians, but Gene always had room in his restaurant, and his heart, for immigrants who needed a helping hand. ungekürzt.
