Dry Smoke and Whispers: A Devil's Workshop, Hörbuch, Digital, 75min
Here's an otherworldly science-fiction adventure from Transdimensional Media. Combining the humor and imagination of Ruby, with the pacing of Firesign Theatre, and an imagined world all its own, Dry Smoke and Whispers is a techno-noir drama with a sense of humor, and a memorable cast of characters. Emile Song, an eccentric, intelligent, and telepathic detective is given the task of catching the East End Reaper, a techno-fiend terrorizing the people of Quaymet. It's small and jewel-blue, with wings and a maniacal laugh. Brought back to life from the Ancient Days of the Empire, a gem-stone filching homunculus is loose in the capital. It's evil, obviously, and must be destroyed. It takes a street-wise orphan of the Neon Bowery to set the capital, and even Song, aright. Language: English. Belgarath the Sorcerer , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 1961min
Best-selling authors David and Leigh Eddings welcome fans back to the time before The Belgariad and The Malloreon series. Join them as they chronicle that fateful conflict between two mortally opposed Destinies, in a monumental war of men and kings and gods. When the world was young and Gods still walked among their mortal children, a headstrong orphan boy set out to explore the world. Thus began the extraordinary adventures that would mold that youthful vagabond into a man and the man into the finely honed instrument of Prophecy known to all the world as Belgarath the Sorcerer. Then came the dark day when the Dark God Torak split the world asunder, and the God Aldur and his disciples began their monumental labor to set Destiny aright. Foremost among their number was Belgarath. His ceaseless devotion was foredoomed to cost him that which he held most dear - even as his loyal service would extend through echoing centuries of loss, of struggle, and of ultimate triumph. ungekürzt. Willing to Engage: Silent No More! , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 321min
Willing to Engage is a prequel to A Diamond on the Wall, the memoir of my experiences in Vietnam. It is my fervent hope, that by telling the remainder of my story, I might somehow stop someone from pulling the trigger of a gun, or swallowing pills, in their desire to end their life, or the lives of others. Too many people are surrendering all hope, because they see no future, or because they consider themselves "hopeless losers", caught up in horrible circumstances, with no out but death. I also hope to motivate today's youth to become involved; to labor with all who are willing to put forth an effort to stop the insanity that is causing such dismay (politically and socially). Together, we can make great strides, but we must be willing to engage in order to accomplish the much needed results. Furthermore, this book is a wake-up-call for the personal involvement and participation of every citizen, to set aright the deplorable condition of today's world. ungekürzt. Language: English. John Milton: Classical Learning and the Progress of Virtue (Giants in the History of Education) , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 185min
The Puritan poet John Milton is most famous for his massive theological epic Paradise Lost. He was also known as perhaps the greatest genius of the English Renaissance possibly the best-educated man of his day and also a major theorist of classical learning for Christians. The man who wrote the seminal words 'The end then of Learning is to repair the ruines of our first Parents by regaining to know God aright, and out of that knowledge to love him, to imitate him, to be like him....' (Of Education, 1644) argues across all his voluminous writings that the purpose of education is soul work for virtue as opposed to information gathering for profit. In this book, Milton scholar Professor Grant Horner from The Master's College examines the poet's powerful vision of a Christian and classical education. Trained at Duke University by Stanley Fish, the world's most influential Miltonist, Horner approaches the text as a Christian educator himself, bringing the complex seventeenth-century texts into modern light for practical application. Addressing questions such as how to handle pagan texts, how to develop a theology of aesthetics, and why we must grapple with the relationship between pagan wisdom and scripture, this book will serve as a thorough and readable introduction to the complex thought of one of the Puritan intellectual giants. ungekürzt. Improve Your Social Skills: Stop Procrastinating, Retrain and Lead Your Brain Without Boundaries to Build Mental Toughness for Dare in Your Life and Improve Critical Aspects for High-Level Conversations , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 115min
What does it take to generate the willfulness to participate proactively in shaping your environment and personal relationships? Is it possible to acquire a sense of purpose that can serve as an active spring of action for you? Many people go through life without a well-thought-out understanding of the true essence of their existence. They're contented to always go with the grain, and to live "normal" lives, even if they don't really understand what the real essence of the "normal" life they're living is. Over time, the human brain develops a comfort zone and cocoons inside of it, and tends to renounce contradictions and inconsistencies in order to remain in the comfort zone. As a result, many people do not consciously control any more than 5% of the choices they make. This can be really frustrating especially for people looking to adopt new habits to improve their social lives. Their inability to direct most of their choices aright and to kick back against procrastination holds them back from adopting habits that would enhance their social skills. Improve Your Social Skills: Stop Procrastinating, Retrain and Lead Your Brain Without Boundaries to Build Mental Toughness for Dare in Your Life and Improve Critical Aspects for High-Level Conversations is a transformative piece that can help you break away from your timid and lackluster social life with ease. The principles in this book will help you beat procrastination to reinvent yourself as well as your relationships with friends and family. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Cliff Weldon. The United States in the Light of Prophecy , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 256min
From the preface: If we read the signs of the times aright, events are soon to transpire of such a nature as to preclude the necessity of any apology for the publication of what is contained in the following pages. The numerous rays of light now shining from the book of prophecy seem to find their focal point in our own times. The present age is illuminated in this respect above all others. Here we find the most emphatic touches of the prophetic pencil. The events to transpire, and the agents therein concerned, are brought out in a vivid and startling light. The question naturally arises, what part the United States has to act in these scenes; for it must seem reasonable and probable that a nation which has arisen so suddenly as ours, made such unparalleled progress, and attained to such a pinnacle of greatness and power, must be a subject of divine prophecy, or at least of divine providence. To this question the following pages undertake to give a brief but scriptural, and so a reasonable and conclusive answer; and to such only as do not believe that God ever foretells the history of nations, or that his providence ever works in their development and decline, can the subject fail to be one of interest. That this little treatise is exhaustive of the subject is not claimed; but some facts are presented which are thought to be worthy of serious consideration, and enough evidence, we trust, produced in favor of the position taken to show the reader that the subject is not one of mere theory, but of the highest practical importance; and so enough to stimulate thought and lead to further inquiry. If the position here taken be correct, this subject is to be one of continually increasing interest, and information respecting it is necessary to an understanding of our duties and responsibilities in the solemn and important times that are upon us. It is in this light that we especially commend it to the serious consideration of the reader ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: L. David Harris. Within You is the Power , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 154min
You are the architect of your own life: it is yours to make or to mar. By the power of thoughts you are building; are you building aright? The power of thought, as Emerson says, is a spiritual power. It is the greatest power that man has at his disposal. The world today is in its present state simply as a result of mankind's collective thinking; each nation is in its present state of either peace and prosperity, or poverty, murder and anarchy, simply as a result of its thinking as a nation; and each individual is what he is, and his life is what it is, and his circumstances are what they are, simply as results of his thoughts. What a man thinks, he becomes; what a man thinks is the mainspring of all his actions; what a man thinks attracts to him his circumstances and environment; what a man thinks determines what type of friends and companions will gather around him; what a man thinks decides whether he shall be happy or miserable, successful or unsuccessful, healthy or unhealthy, prosperous or poverty-stricken, hated or loved. What a man thinks either builds up his character or pulls it down. What a man thinks can overcome fate or strengthen it, can bring him into alignment with his glorious destiny, or make him an outcast and a wanderer in desert places. Indeed, there is no limit to the power of thought, because it is a spiritual power of intense potency. It is the power which distinguishes man from the brute, it is the power by which he can mount up to God, it is the power which can make the unsuccessful successful in the battle of life, it is the power which can make the loftiest achievement possible, it is the power by which difficulties can be overcome, disadvantages of birth and parentage surmounted, and the life beautified and inspired and energised with God-given powers. By thought man either blesses or curses himself. By it he brings into his life either success or failure, health or disease, happiness or unhappiness, poverty or prosperity ungekürzt. Grow Up into Him (eBook, ePUB)
The question of forming habits on the basis of the grace of God is a very vital one. God regenerates us and puts us in contact with all His Divine resources, but He cannot make us walk according to His will; the practising is ours, not God's. We have to take the initiative and "add to . . . faith virtue. . . ." To take the initiative means to make a beginning, and each one of us must do it for himself: We have to acquaint ourselves with the way we have to go; and beware of the tendency of asking the way when we know it perfectly well. To "add" means to acquire the habit of doing things, and it is difficult in the initial stages. We are in danger of forgetting that we cannot do what God does and that God will not do what we can do. We cannot save ourselves or sanctify ourselves; God only can do that; but God does not give us good habits, He does not give us character, He does not make us walk aright; we must do all that. We have to work out what God has worked in (Philippians 2:12-13). Many of us lose out spiritually, not because the devil attacks us, but because we are stupidly ignorant of the way God has made us. Remember, the devil did not make the human body; he may have tampered with it, but the human body was created by God, and its constitution after we are saved remains the same as before. For instance, we are not born with a ready-made habit of dressing ourselves; we have to form that habit. Apply it spiritually-when we are born again, God does not give us a fully fledged series of holy habits, we have to make them; and the forming of habits on the basis of God's supernatural work in our souls is the education of our spiritual life.- Shop: buecher
