Tell Me Why You Fled: True Stories of Seeking Refuge , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 555min
Semifinalist for the Kore Press Memoir AwardWhen Karen O’Reilly’s 28-year-old friend and roommate dies by suicide on a bright New Year’s Day, Karen, also suffering from severe depression, decides that she needs to do something drastic to avoid following a similar path. Six months later she leaves her comfortable western existence behind to work with refugees in Uganda. In this candid and irreverent memoir, Karen tells the story of working with people seeking refuge - from war, and torture, and genocide - as a young woman seeking refuge from herself. She describes the unexpected connections she makes with the refugees with whom she works: the Somali woman who, pitying her, prays for her to find a husband; the suspected Rwandan génocidaire who argues with her about soccer and makes her undrinkable coffee; the transgender Burundian woman who commissions a matching rooster-print blouse and skirt for her, as a thank you gift. Outside of work, she tries to forget the corruption and sexual abuse she is shocked to encounter in the humanitarian world. She drinks gin, dances at illicit gay bars, sees local psychiatrists with unorthodox ideas, and tries to make sense of the refugees’ stories and her own. ungekürzt. Language: English. Contribution to the Geology of Tondo, Mwenga South Kivu/DRC
This work deals with the petrographic, cartographic and geochemical study of the Tondo area or grouping. Our study area was affected by the Kibariene orogeny of the Burundian group which is one of the geological periods of Central Africa, characterized by several metamorphisms, which affected the study area. Thus, we have described outcrops that in general comprise metamorphic rocks. We had to describe about fifty outcrops along the field minute and after the macroscopic analysis of the samples taken on the field and the microscopic analysis made in the laboratory, we were able to find that the rocks outcropping in these sectors are largely the result of a regional metamorphism having affected these regions which are part of the Kibaian formations. The Schist. Quartzites, Gneiss are also part of these sectors. geochemical trace elements are : Co, Cu, Zn, Mo, Sb, Zr, Ni, Cr, V, As, Se, Sr, Ag, Cd, Sn, W, Hg, Pb, Bi, Th, U, Au, Nb and Ta. Gold and Tin are the main minerals disseminated in the schist.- Shop: buecher

How to Frame the Life You Desire , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 123min
On April 6, 1994, an airplane carrying the president of Rwanda Juvenal Habyarimana and Burundian president Cyprien Ntaryamira, who were both returning from Dares Salam, Tanzania, from a one-day regional summit of heads of state, was shot down on its descent into Kigali, Rwanda, by unknown assailants. Everyone aboard including the two president were killed. Shortly after this, nature woke history to record the quickest killing spree the world has ever seen. In fact, before the rest of the world could know what the matter was, close to a million Rwandans were slaughtered and their body disposed of with reckless abandon in mass graves in a carefully organized program of genocide during the hundred-day period from April 7, to mid-July, 1994. If you think Hitler and his Nazi killers were too fast on the trigger, then you know nothing about the Rwandan genocide. When the Hutu majority ethnic group started slaughtering the Tutsi minority tribe in the East African country of Rwanda, can you believe that the Hutus were not only slaughtering their life-long Tutsi neighbors but also slaughtering their Tutsi wife and half-Tutsi children as well? I want you to understand that the majority of Hutus who took part in this infamous genocide didn’t partake in it because they were witches or wizards or because they enjoy to slaughter people. Remember, no father can stand another man hitting his children, far less, to slaughter them. Most of these Hutu men and women were once decent people who lived peacefully with their life-long Tutsi neighbors. Many of them were considered kind hearted. Many of them were considered kind hearted by their Tutsi friends, coworkers, and neighbors before the war. In short, it was said that there were revered pastors, renowned doctors, and priests who took part in the infamous genocide. What then turns them to monsters overnight? I know this is the question on your mind right now, isn’t it? Well, in case you don’t know, the same thing tha ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Pete Beretta.
