    Der Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2011 ist ein Paradebeispiel für Terroir-Philosophie dieser Whisky Destillerie. Mit Authentizität, der kompromisslosen Auswahl aller Rohstoffe sowie das Herausarbeiten von Gerstensorten unterschiedlicher Herkunft wird diesem Single Malt ein einzigartiges Geschmacksprofil verliehen. Das raue Atlantikklima und die schwierigen Anbaubedingungen auf Islay, sowie die Spuren in der Gerste geben diesem Whisky den typisch fruchtig-floralen Bruichladdich Stil und fügen noch eine leicht ungezähmte Note hinzu. Für den Islay Barley 2011 wurde Gerste von sechs Farmen an der Westküste sowie aus zentralen Lagen der Insel verwendet. Die Reifung fand zu 75 % in 1st fill Bourbon Casks sowie zu 25 % in 2nd- und3rd-Fill- Süßweinfässern aus den besten Anbaugebieten der Welt statt. Eine großartige Lebendigkeit entsteht durch diese Kombination. In der Nase knackiger Apfel und reife Birne, Zitronenbonbon, sowie Grapefruit- und Orangenschale. Am Gaumen ein wunderbarer Geschmack nach Holunderblüte und Heckenkirsche und eine unnachahmliche Süße von geröstetem Gerstenmalz.

Dazu kommt der Duft von süßer Vanille, Kokoscreme und Schokolade, was auf die lange Reifung in amerikanischen Fässern zurückzuführen ist. Diese drei Richtungen scheinen in einem verspielten Wettkampf miteinander zu ringen. Am Ende gewinnt eine Kombination aus Zitronenkuchen und Pfirsichjoghurt, eingehüllt in eine rauchig-elegante Wolke. Den Beginn macht eine leicht salzige Note, die sofort daran erinnert, dass dieser Vintage an der Küste geboren, gereift und abgefüllt wurde.
