This change also affects the program of the evening and the participating soloists, which we will publish here in a timely manner.The French harpsichordist and conductor Christophe Rousset is a guest at Barock+ for the first time. Together with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, he presents a programme rich in relationships with Luigi Boccherini´s »Stabat Mater« at its centre. The medieval poem, comprising ten stanzas and thematising the Mother of God weeping over her Son who had just died on the cross, must have exerted an almost magical attraction on composers of all times. There are said to be no fewer than 600 settings of it, the best known being by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi. But the Italian Luigi Boccherini, who worked in Spain and was a master of the directly appealing, unaffectedly melodic classical style, succeeded in creating a no less sublime version that touched the heart in its simplicity. The concert is also completely attuned to the pre-Easter Holy Week with the »Maurerische Trauermusik«, a rather unknown but solitary Mozart work, which unfolds a unique charm in its deep intimacy and tonality co-determined by two basset horns.Concert duration: about 75 minutes
