Insider-Outsider Research in Qualitative Inquiry: New Perspectives on Method and Meaning explores the history, practice and particular benefits of conducting cultural research through a partnership of two researchers: one who is an insider to the culture under study and one who is an outsider. This book unpacks terminology around this type of research that has become outdated or cumbersome, looks at ethical issues and suggests specific methodological approaches. It also locates insider-outsider research, which is by its nature qualitative, in the wider research landscape. The authors specifically describe a researcher partnership, a relationship more intimate and fruitful than a team, much greater than the sum of its parts. Through their own nearly twenty-year research partnership and study of the Israeli Druze, the authors have developed mutual trust that has led to new depths of insight in understanding cultural codes and the meanings they embody. This, and the methods they use, will be illustrated through examples of some of their studies with the Israeli Druze. A highly accessible guide, this book will be of interest to ethnographers and other qualitative researchers, both graduate students and researchers of all levels of experience.

When the Supreme Being and his son decide that being supreme isn't for them anymore, it's inevitable that things get a bit of a shake-up. It soon becomes apparent that our new owners, the Venturi brothers, have a very different perspective on all sorts of things. Take Good and Evil, for example. For them it's an outdated concept that never worked particularly well in the first place. Unfortunately, the sudden disappearance of right and wrong, while welcomed by some, raises certain concerns amongst those still attached to the previous team's management style. In particular there's one of the old gods who didn't move out with the others. A reclusive chap, he lives somewhere up north, and only a handful even believe in him. But he's watching. And he really does need to know if you've been naughty or nice. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Ray Sawyer. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/twuk/001340/bk_twuk_001340_sample.mp3. While millions of believers around the world are finding their understanding of Christianity to be outdated and untenable, Matthew Distefano has managed to paint the gospel in such a way that even an atheist could appreciate its beauty. Rather than a message of rapture, or rewards and reprisals, Distefano presents the good news of what God has done in history to stem the tide of our own violence and evil - inviting us into a whole new way of living and being in this world. By integrating Rene Girard's "mimetic theory" and Ernest Becker's "death anxiety", Distefano is able to diagnose the root causes of human violence and then offer the life-giving solution in the person of Jesus. Both the struggling evangelical and unbeliever alike can take refuge here, finding in this gospel the thing their soul - and the disintegrating world around them - is thirsting for. ungekürzt. Are You Still Mine? is a fresh and deeply fascinating take on one of the most controversial historical mysteries ever debated: the love story of Jesus and Mary Magdalen. We've all seen the breadcrumbs of clues and evidence strung throughout the ages that have kept the question of their love alive, but never put together transcendentally as a timeless solution to the corrupt and outdated patriarchal religious institutions of today. This primordial gnosis, which has been relentlessly attacked, is finally being presented to the modern world as a means of liberating the spirit of humankind and waking us up out of fear and into enlightenment. Take a bite out of this apple, and not only be introduced to your transcendental consciousness, but also experience the transfiguration of your heart into the aureole of something more than human, something entirely spiritual. ungekürzt. Millions of people profess to being religious. And a large percentage of those people profess to be Christian. With so many people claiming to belong to a Christian religious order, why are so many people living defeated, empty lives? The primary reason religions fail is because they have no power. Religious doctrine is based upon man’s effort. It is mankind asserting our will and desires upon the standards set by God. If the people within a religious order decide they don’t like the rules or feel the basic established tenets are outdated, they start a vote to change them.God does not change! We need to find out who he meant for us to be in his Kingdom and what the real meaning of his words are, in order to live victoriously and perpetuate the kingdom of God. ungekürzt. Language: English.
