Actor Joe Pantoliano and novelist Jeffrey Eugenides on this edition of Fresh Air. Pantoliano has got a new series on CBS called The Handler. Mittels zweier selbstveröffentlichter Alben hat sich Martin Sane langsam aber sicher seinen Status bei Szeneinsidern erspielt: Anders als die Anfang des Jahres herausgekommenen Modern Industrial 2nd Face sind Fïx8:Sëd8 klassische Anhänger des Retro-Electro. Mit Film-Sprachsamples, verschachtelten Sequenzen und Midtempobeats lehnen sie sich an Bands wie Mentallo & The Fixer oder Interlace an, und bedienen damit vor allem die Feinschmecker der Elektroszene. Sane's Vorliebe für die Pioniere dunkler Elektronik aus Kanada und Texas ist offensichtlich, der ganz eigene Fïx8-Sound jedoch entsteht dadurch, dass die komplexen Arrangements nie zum Selbstzweck verkommen, sondern als bewusstes Werkzeug gegen elektronische Monotonie fungieren.
