St. John Bosco, better known as Don Bosco, is one of the great apostles of the 19th century. His ministry was to the children of Turin in Northern Italy, victims of the Industrial Revolution in that country at that time. Don Bosco was God's gift to the Church of that century. The magnetism of Don Bosco reached out and touched souls all over the world. He was one of the most multi-faceted diamonds the Lord has ever given us. In addition to being a Pied Piper to the young, attracting them, embracing them, protecting them, guiding them, he founded a religious order, was an author, a super church builder, as well as a visionary and prophet. While there are so many cuts in the diamond we call St. John Bosco, so many aspects of the life and ministry of St. John Bosco that we could write about, we want to limit ourselves in this book to his visions and dreams, his prophecies of heaven, hell, and purgatory. Most of these were connected with his ministry to the children of his oratory; but we can all take lessons from these messages he received from the Lord. We're going to paraphrase the dream because there is just so much to cover, but we do recommend you listen more about him. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Luz Elena Sandoval-Lord. In the timber camps of North Florida in the 1930s, Zora Neale Hurston, a famous African-American anthropologist and author, discovered the unwritten segregationist law allowing a white man to force a white woman to have his children. Dr. Ellis coined the term "paramour rights" and attributed it to Hurston's character in this novel. Twenty years later, she received an assignment from the Pittsburgh Courier to cover the murder trial of Ruby McCollum, a wealthy colored woman accused of slaying a white physician who had recently been elected to the Florida state senate - and rumored to be her lover and father of one of her children. Intrigued by what she considered a case of paramour rights, Hurston accepted the Courier assignment. What she discovered in the small town of Live Oak was a sordid tale of interracial sex, greed, drugs, and murder, concealed by the guilty silence of its fearful citizens who did not want their secret involvement in the subterranean world of illegal gambling and liquor sales to be revealed. To paraphrase Hurston, she felt that the story played itself out in a conspiracy of silence, behind a curtain of secrecy. The audio version of the story contains a new introduction and afterword narrated by the author, while the novel itself is narrated by the talented Trei Taylor, who brings a unique depth of character to Zora Neale Hurston. ungekürzt. American comedian Jerry Seinfeld said there was once a survey conducted cataloguing the worst and deepest fears of a particular group of people. Number two on the list was the fear of death. Number one was public speaking. "That means a majority of people would rather be in the casket than doing the eulogy," to paraphrase Seinfeld's joke. You may have picked this book up for a number of reasons. Maybe you're going to make a big speech at a wedding, family gathering, work meeting, or elsewhere. Maybe you just want a boost to your self-confidence and make yourself a more charismatic speaker. You could just be a really big fan of my work, perhaps. Regardless of what it is, thank you for choosing Move the Crowd: The Art of Influencing People Through Public Speaking. In this book, we'll get to the root of the problem that causes the fear of public speaking, increase your positive thinking, give you exercises to fine tune your voice and presence, and much more! By the time you finish this audiobook, you'll feel more at ease and comfortable speaking in front of small and large groups alike. There's nothing to fear speaking in front of people, and my hope as we go through the finer points of public speaking together is to ease those fears and bring out a more confident you. The hardest part of change is getting started, so let's not waste any more time! ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: L. David Harris.
