Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 98-100/100 Punkte »The 2018 La Mission Haut-Brion is composed of 53.5% Merlot, 42.9% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3.6% Cabernet Franc, harvested September 10 to October 2. Deep purple-black in color, it slowly unfurls to reveal a beguiling nose of earth and soft-spoken fruit, opening with wild blueberries, wet slate, pencil lead and fresh black cherries giving way to a serious core of blackcurrant cordial, baked plums and wild sage, and then exposing delicate wafts of rose hip tea and candied violets. Full-bodied, the palate is very tightly wound and super intense with amazing restraint and energy focused around very firm, exquisitely fine-grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing incredibly long and fantastically multilayered. Extraordinary wine.« James Suckling: 97-98/100 Punkte »A tight and linear red with fantastic oyster-shell, iodine and crushed-stone character, complementing the currants and blackberries. Extremely long and fresh.« Decanter: 97/100 Punkte »An extremely fine Mission, just beginning to say its piece. It's dense, gorgeously velvety in texture and bursting with fruit and energy. On the palate you get liquorice and dark chocolate notes, showing clear generosity while easily walking the line of balance. The longer it sits in the glass, the more the minerality takes hold on the mid-palate, doling out its tiny sparks of electricity and holding your attention. The subtle smoke, freshly cut herbs and tight tannins steal up on you, planting their flag in the finish. Harvested 10 September to 2 October, giving a 44hl/ha yield. 1% Petit Verdot completes the blend. IPT 75.8. The 3.76pH is the highest since 1989. Drinking Window 2023 - 2032« Falstaff: 97/100 Punkte »Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarter Wasserrand. Reife Beerenfrucht, feiner Feigentouch, ein Hauch von Nougat, einladendes Bukett. Komplex, saftig, reife Herzkirschen, präsente, gut eingebundene Tannine, schokoladiger Nachhall, gut anhaftend, feine Mineralität, zarte Röstaromen im Rückgeschmack, sehr gute Länge.« Wine Enthusiast: 95-97/100 Punkte »Barrel Sample. While the wine is certainly structured, it has all the finesse and elegance that is associated with this estate. Beautiful berry flavors are packed with acidity but supported by generous tannins. This is impressive and obviously will age well.« Weinwisser: 19,5/20 »Die gut 20 Hektar sind ebenfalls im Besitz der Familie Dillon.

As for the 2010 Haut-Brion, it does not have the power of Latour’s 2010 or the intense lead pencil shavings and chocolaty component of Lafite-Rothschild, but it is extraordinary, perfect wine. It has a slightly lower pH than the 2009 (3.7 versus the 2009's 3.8), and even higher alcohol than the 2009 (14.6%). The wine is ethereal. From its dense purple color to its incredibly subtle but striking aromatics that build incrementally, offering up a spectacular smorgasbord of aromas ranging from charcoal and camphor to black currant and blueberry liqueur and spring flowers, this wine’s finesse, elegant yet noble power and authority come through in a compelling fashion. It is full-bodied, but that’s only apparent in the aftertaste, as the wine seems to float across the palate with remarkable sweetness, harmony, and the integration of all its component parts – alcohol, tannin, acidity, wood, etc. This prodigious Haut-Brion is hard to compare to another vintage, at least right now, but it should have 50 to 75 years of aging potential. Weinwisser: 20/20 »49,4 % Merlot, 11,9 % Cabernet Franc, 38,7 %, 14,6 % Cabernet Sauvignon, Lese zwischen dem 6. September und 2. Oktober. Trinken 2030 bis 2058« James Suckling: 98-99/100 Punkte »The length and texture to this wine is so very impressive. It’s not so much the sheer power that is impressive here, rather the form, tension and exquisite form that the abundant, fine-grained tannins provide. It lasts for minutes on the palate. A classic beauty in the making.« Decanter: 98/100 Punkte  »A beautiful Haut-Brion that combines generosity and elegance. It's rich, and velvety, with a vibrant ruby rim, all conveying structure and a sense of power. The flavour floods in through the mid-palate, displaying wonderfully vibrant blackberry, blueberry, slate, touches of blond tobacco, freshly cut herbs and exotic spicing. You can feel in the texture that it's a warm year, not holding back. It's powerful but elegant and unforced at the same time, with some brambled edges that give a welcome sense of acidity and a touch of bitterness. Harvested 6 September to 2 October, yielding 44hl/ha. 3.8pH. IPT72 - the same level as 2015, but it was a little higher in 2010 and 2009. Drinking Window 2027 - 2044« Falstaff: 98/100 Punkte »Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarter Wasserrand. Etwas zurückhaltend, feines dunkles Waldbeerkonfit, dezente Kräuterwürze, Nuancen von Kirschen, etwas Nougat, dezenter Edelholztouch unterlegt. Straff, engmaschig, feine süße Kirschfrucht, würzige, präsente Tannine, die noch etwas spröde wirken, sehr lebendiger Stil, salzige Mineralität im Abgang, Nougat im Rückgeschmack.« Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 97-99+/100 Punkte »The 2018 Haut-Brion is a blend of 49.4% Merlot, 38.7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11.9% Cabernet Franc, harvested September 6 to October 2. Deep purple-black in color, it is much more closed than the La Mission. It holds back for the first few minutes, reticent to reveal what slowly uncoils to give wave after wave of exotic spices—cardamom, cassis, star anise and fenugreek—over an opulent core of red roses, Black Forest cake, warm cassis and black raspberries with nuances of cigar box, crushed rocks, truffles, tilled black soil, iron ore and smoked meats. The full-bodied palate is truly profound, with restrained black fruit and spice layers slowly offering mineral sparks and savory suggestions within a rock-solid frame of firm, super fine-grained tannins and beautiful freshness, finishing with epic length and depth. This will take longer to come around than the La Mission, but it will be well worth the wait.« Wine Enthusiast: 96-98/100 Punkte »Barrel Sample. This wine has an immense structure that's powered by tannins, yet backed by a dry core and bright acidity. The black currant flavor is very fine and concentrated while also having a juicy freshness that marks the vintage. It has all the structure that should be expected from this estate.« Bitte beachten Sie die Sonderbedingungen der Subskription in unseren AGB.

Wine Advocate (Robert M. Parker): 100/100 Punkte »A candidate for the wine of the vintage, the 2009 La Mission-Haut-Brion stood out as one of the most exceptional young wines I had ever tasted from barrel, and its greatness has been confirmed in the bottle. A remarkable effort from the Dillon family, this is another large-scaled La Mission that tips the scales at 15% alcohol. A blend of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot (47% of each) and the rest Cabernet Franc, it exhibits an opaque purple color as well as a magnificent bouquet of truffles, scorched earth, blackberry and blueberry liqueur, subtle smoke and spring flowers. The wine's remarkable concentration offers up an unctuous/viscous texture, a skyscraper-like mouthfeel, sweet, sumptuous, nearly over-the-top flavors and massive density. Perhaps a once-in-a-lifetime La Mission-Haut-Brion, the 2009 will take its place alongside the many great wines made here since the early 1920s. The good news is that there are nearly 6,000 cases of the 2009. It should last for 50-75+ years. Given the wine's unctuosity and sweetness of the tannin, I would have no problem drinking it in about 5-6 years.« Trinkgenuss: 2020 bis 2060 Weinwisser (Rene Gabriel): 19/20 Punkte »47 % Merlot, 47 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 6 % Cabernet Franc. Ein grosser, machtvoller, klassischer Mission mit Potenzial für locker 40 Jahre.« Trinkgenuss: 2018 bis 2050 James Suckling: 98 Punkte »This is already closing with blueberry, mineral, fresh herbs, and licorice. Full-bodied, with ultra fine tannins yet muscular and racy. This is already very firm and tight. Yet muscular like a world-class ballerina. Muscular. Try after 2018.« Wine Spectator: 96/100 Punkten »This is forcefully rendered, with dark tar, espresso and chocolate up front, backed by dense layers of fig sauce, currant reduction and smoldering black tea leaves. There's dense flesh and great drive on the finish, which has serious grip.«  Trinkgenuss: 2016 bis 2035
