The New York Times bestseller that explains one of the most important perceptual shifts in the history of humankindScott Adams was one of the earliest public figures to predict Donald Trump s election. The mainstream media regarded Trump as a lucky clown, but Adams best known as the guy who created Dilbert -- recognized a level of persuasion you only see once in a generation. We re hardwired to respond to emotion, not reason, and Trump knew exactly which emotional buttons to push. The point isn t whether Trump was right or wrong, good or bad. Adams goes beyond politics to look at persuasion tools that can work in any setting the same ones Adams saw in Steve Jobs when he invested in Apple decades ago. Win Bigly is a field guide for persuading others in any situation or resisting the tactics of emotional persuasion when they re used on you. This revised edition features a bonus chapter that assesses just how well Adams foresaw the outcomes of Trump s tactics with North Korea, the NFL protesters, Congress, and more.

Dilbert Pinkerton's not the greatest private detective, but he's good at sniffing out clues. Of course, it's hard to take a five-foot-nothing mutant armadillo in a trench coat and fedora seriously. He sticks his snout where it doesn't belong far too often while digging for the truth. So when some rich dame asks him to steal - ahem, retrieve - a pearl necklace from her ex-husband, Dill almost reconsiders. Until, that is, she offers him so much money that he can't refuse. Now, Dill heads to Nevermore Bay, home of The Buzzard. Most in Nevermore Bay think The Buzzard is just a myth created by the local police force. Whether that's true or not, Dill can't help but be curious by the mystery. When he runs afoul of this fowl, though, things go to hell and fast. Not only are the police after him, but Dill must also contend with some of The Buzzard's rogues, mobster Don Komodo and his goon squad, and even The Buzzard himself. With everyone in the city against him, what hope does Dill have just to get out of there with his carapace intact? ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Elijah Alarcon. It's about the stuff you learn when you've worked for a boss you'd swear jumped out of a Dilbert cartoon; worked in a business whose performance careened up and down like a runaway clown car; faced legal or ethical problems that needed the wisdom of Solomon to sort out while they roiled your guts at night; and sat on the stand across from some third-rate Perry Mason or tried to be one yourself. It's about what you learn when you've knocked yourself out to put measurable six-figure savings back on the company's bottom line; or when an employee pleads for her job with tears in her eyes as she lies through her teeth to your face; or when you've faced down an employee who was spoiling for any chance he could get to sue your organization crippled; or maybe when you've dealt with the employee who told his supervisor he's going to shoot himself. Like most everyone else, whenever I've cleaned up some HR mess - or made one of my own - I would learn something that I tucked in my back pocket, to pull out as needed when something similar popped up. Some people call this their bag of tricks, or wisdom. I've always thought of it as my little black book. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Ray Allaire. The name's Dilbert Pinkerton: mutant armadillo, private detective. I dig for the truth. The truth was, Dill had collared his first murder mystery since moving to Nevermore Bay and it was a doozy. The victim was found impaled on a flag pole nearly 30 stories high, innards spilling all out in the open like they decided to take a vacation from his body. Although the police called the strangest detective to ever wear a shell and fedora in to consult, the powers-that-be weren’t fond of having him around.   Neither was the star witness in the case.  Lily Pad - TV actress and mutant frog - lived across the street from where the body was found, her apartment window lining up in perfect view of the dead guy. Almost like the murderer wanted to make sure Lily saw it when she'd open the curtains in the morning, drinking her morning java. Being the seasoned hard boiled detective he is, Dill is sure the actress is hiding something, that she is connected closer to this case than she lets on. Worse, anti-homoanthro sentiment is already pretty strong, what with Dill making a splash in the city the way he did. To solve the case, Dill takes every risk to get close to Lily, not only to find a killer, but to keep her safe until all this comes to a head. Before she loses hers. ungekürzt. Language: English. God's Debris isn't a conventional book. It is written on three separate levels, by Scott Adams, better known as the creator of the Dilbert comic. What is less known about Adams is that he's a trained hypnotist. God's Debris is what happens when creativity and hypnosis intersect. On the surface, God's Debris is a simple fictional story of a delivery man who encounters an Avatar who knows literally everything. The Avatar reveals the truth about God, reality, science, probability, human perception, and even social success. Adams uses a writing trick to make the Avatar's answers appear more persuasive than they should be. The second level of the book involves arguing with your friends about what parts the Avatar got wrong. Some of what the Avatar says is consistent with science, and some of it is pure fiction. See if you can tell which is which. You and your friends will come to very different conclusions. The third level of the book is the most provocative, but it won't have the same effect on all listeners. The story is designed as a very subtle hypnotic induction, with the intent of giving some (but not all) readers the sensation that the Avatar's words actually contain the wisdom of the universe. For some readers, especially those under 30, God's Debris can be a mind altering experience. Fair Warning: Because of the hypnotic writing style, readers tend to have strong reactions to the work. If you are in the top 5% of the population in terms of scientific knowledge, or philosophical reading, there's a good chance you will have an angry reaction to God's Debris. But if you are more of a seeker than a know-it-all, your experience could be something special. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: D. C. Goode. Like almost everyone else, whenever I've cleaned up some human resources mess - or made one of my own - I would learn something that I tucked in my back pocket, to pull out as needed when something similar popped up. Some people call this their bag of tricks or wisdom. I've always thought of it as my little black book. Practically, anybody with 15 or so years of experience could have created this book, and surely some would have done better. I guess I just thought of it first. I can't do much about that, but I hope that a peek through my little black book of HR will spare you, dear listener, a few bloody noses in your HR career or shave a few degrees off of your learning curve. This is a chapter-level book. The full book is available as The Little Black Book of Human Resources Management. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Ray Allaire.
