A frisson of energy bleated through Milla‘s chest. They were in a foreign world, where much was the same as Earth. But this. This single heartbeat in the night. This was very different. Milla Keto: Uncommonly beautiful, curvy, and naturally confident. She would stop at nothing to protect those she cared for. Her mission was not to find love or a true mate. Her sole quest was to find Ruby's brother who had disappeared through the waterfall. John Alec: The warrior or the poet. Milla didn't care for either. But she needed him. His battle was for the lives of shifters, stolen from their own world, and now enslaved in this new land. But there was something about this warrior that stirred something deep within her. An intensity and a desire that she both liked and feared at the same time. Completely disarmed by Alec's honesty, could Milla allow her desires to manifest, and what would this mean for the mission to save Griff? This is the second book in the Shifter Fever series, but can also be listened to as a standalone. Fighter pilot Gary Forsythe is a man on fire. He’s tough, steely-eyed, hunted by many and feared by all. He’s British Secret Service - a striking predecessor to James Bond - with a chip on his shoulder and a .50 caliber machinegun in his flying killing machine. He is the devil - with wings. The Japanese have invaded Manchuria, and Forsythe has made it his mission to stop them. Japanese Military Intelligence has made it their mission to knock the Devil out of the skies. But a dogfight with the Imperial Japanese Air Force is child’s play compared to the challenge that awaits him. . . . Her name is Patricia Weston. Japanese spies have falsely accused the British pilot of murdering her brother - and now she wants vengeance. And for once in his life, Forsythe is disarmed - by his love for a woman who has vowed to kill him.  As a young man, Hubbard visited Manchuria, where his closest friend headed up British intelligence in northern China. Hubbard gained a unique insight into the intelligence operations and spy-craft in the region as well as the hostile political climate between China and Japan - a knowledge that informs stories like The Devil - with Wings. ungekürzt. In 1809, John Potts and John Colter were taking two canoes up the Jefferson River in Montana. Potts and Colter came upon a band of several hundred Blackfeet Indians who demanded they come ashore. Colter guided his canoe ashore and was disarmed and stripped naked. When Potts refused to bring his canoe ashore he was shot and wounded. He returned fire and killed one of the Blackfeet warriors. He died immediately, riddled by a hail of bullets fired by the Indians on the shore. His body was brought ashore and hacked to pieces in front of Colter. Colter tried to protest, but was slapped across the face with a rifle butt. The Blackfeet held a council and it was decided that he would be a little sport for several of the young warriors. Colter was brought before the War Chief and told in the Crow language that he would be permitted to leave in his naked condition. A few seconds later a brave would be sent out after him for the purpose of killing him. A few seconds later another warrior would be sent and so on until 10 Blackfeet pursued him. This would be a naked “run for his life.” ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Steven A. Gannett. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/148416/bk_acx0_148416_sample.mp3. The Rendlesham Forest Incident is one of the most amazing incidents in UFO History. In December 1980, an unprecedented series of sightings and the actual landing of a craft (or multiple craft) of unknown origin occurred in Rendlesham Forest, Suffolk, England. The base was used by the U.S. Air Force during this period; therefore dozens of USAF personnel were eyewitnesses to these events as they occurred over a two- to three-day period. Landed craft were not only directly encountered by military personnel, but a hovering UFO was seen emitting a beam of light directly over a missile silo, which reportedly disarmed it. The British Ministry of Defense (MoD) denied that the event posed any threat to national security and stated that it was never investigated as a security matter. Admiral Lord Hill-Norton, the former Chief of the Defense, later stated an incident like this at a nuclear weapons base was unquestionably of national security interest. Eyewitness and Deputy Base Commander, Colonel Charles Halt also disagreed and insists the event was covered up by both the U.K. and U.S. intelligence services. Later evidence indicated that there was a substantial MoD file on the subject, which led to claims of a cover-up. Some interpreted this as part of a larger pattern of information suppression concerning the true nature of unidentified flying objects, by both the American and British governments. Again and again British politicians, commentators, and celebrities intone that "the war on drugs has failed". They then say this is an argument for abandoning all attempts to reduce drug use through the criminal law. Peter Hitchens shows that in Britain, there has been no serious war on drugs since 1971, when a Tory government adopted a Labour plan to implement the revolutionary Wootton report. This gave cannabis, the most widely used illegal substance, a special legal status as a supposedly "soft" drug (in fact, Hitchens argues, it is at least as dangerous as heroin and cocaine because of the threat it poses to mental health). It began a progressive reduction of penalties for possession and effectively disarmed the police. This process still continues behind a screen of falsely tough rhetoric from politicians. Far from there being a war on drugs, there has been a covert surrender to drugs, concealed behind an official obeisance to international treaty obligations. For all intents and purposes, cannabis is legal in Britain, and other major drugs are not far behind. In The War We Never Fought, Hitchens uncovers the secret history of the government's true attitude and the increasing recruitment of the police and courts to covert decriminalization initiatives and contrasts it with the rhetoric. Whatever and whoever is to blame for the undoubted mess of Britain's drug policy, it is not prohibition or a war on drugs, for neither exists. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Peter Hitchens.
