Paul and the Power of Grace , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 499min
Paul and the Gift changed the landscape of Pauline studies forever upon its publication in 2015. In it, John Barclay led students through a recontextualized analysis of grace and interrogated Paul’s original meaning in declaring it a “free gift” from God, revealing grace as a multifaceted concept that is socially radical and unconditioned - even if not unconditional. Paul and the Power of Grace offers all of the most significant contributions from Paul and the Gift in a package several hundred pages lighter and more accessible. Additionally, Barclay adds further analysis of the theme of gift and grace in Paul’s other letters and explores contemporary implications for this new view of grace. ungekürzt. Language: English. 1 Corinthians, Hörbuch, Digital, 450min
Paul spends 18 months in Corinth, A.D. 50-52. In Paul’s day, Corinth was a double seaport town on the isthmus linking the Peloponnesian Peninsula to the mainland of Greece. It was a wealthy city and home of the Temple of Aphrodite, the goddess of erotic love. In classical Greek drama, a play’s whore is often known as "the Corinthian girl". Such is the notorious immorality of Corinth. For Paul, Corinth was nothing but trouble. In the winter of A.D. 54, a delegation from Corinth arrives in Ephesus to meet with Paul. They inform Paul that the church in Corinth has (1) developed factions and divisions among the believers, and that (2) believers are suing one another in the secular courts, and that (3) rampant sexual immorality is spreading throughout the church. In 1 Corinthians Paul addresses each of these issues, and then in chapter seven, he goes on to address a series of questions presented to him in a letter delivered by the delegation. Paul’s responses are blunt and not particularly kind: he tells the people of Corinth to stop being such big babies and to “grow up”! Listen to Logos Bible Study’s Dr. Bill Creasy as he explores Paul’s response to a church rife with rebellion, division, immorality, and gross misuses of God’s gifts to his people. Language: English. 1 Thessalonians, Hörbuch, Digital, 90min
Paul visited Thessalonica early in his second missionary journey, A.D. 50-52. In Paul’s day, Thessalonica was the second largest city in Greece/Macedonia, trailing only Athens in size. Amazingly, Paul spends only “three Sabbath days” here before he has to leave town - or be lynched! Yet within six months the church in Thessalonica has become known all over the Roman world for its extraordinary faith. As a church born in the flames of persecution, the church at Thessalonica has several very important questions to ask Paul - especially about the Lord’s return - and Paul addresses these questions in 1 Thessalonians. Enjoy the rich discussion Logos Bible Study’s Dr. Bill Creasy brings to this book as he emphasizes Paul’s words of faith, hope, and love. Language: English. Narrator: Dr. Bill Creasy. Revenge of the Flying Carpet , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 218min
Paul’s twin sister, Trinity, has made his life a misery as long as he can remember, so when he finds a magic carpet in his gran’s loft he begins to plot revenge! But Paul gets much more than he bargained for as he and Trinity travel through time and space to see justice, revenge, forgiveness and judgment for themselves. Paul’s encounters and experiences help him to reflect on some of his real-life issues, but then comes something totally unexpected....This intriguing story with its intriguing title doesn't disappoint. This book maintains an element of mystery right though to the end. It is original, gripping and thought-provoking, and although unashamedly Christian, it never preaches to the listener. ungekürzt. Getting Right with God: Exploring Intimacy Through Daily Journaling and the Courts of Heaven , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 180min
In Getting Right with God, Paul Nthoba relates his intimate conversations with the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. He follows a strategic format first used by Matthew Robert Payne and then adapted by Lisa Townley in books of the same name. But although the format is the same, Paul’s unique and personal relationship with the Trinity shines through in his conversation and with humor as they all interact with each other. In each daily entry, Paul and the Trinity walk through the same three sections: an introduction, openness and vulnerability, and the courts of heaven. Paul’s transparency engages the listener in understanding how the Father wants to develop a deep friendship with each person. Join Paul in his journey of Getting Right with God. Perhaps you will be inspired to start your own journey as well! ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Larry Matsko. Galatians, Hörbuch, Digital, 111min
Paul never planned to go into Galatian territory, but midway into his second missionary journey, he becomes ill in Pisidian Antioch and his companions, Timothy and Silas, take him north over the mountains to Galatia for medical care. While there, Paul forms several churches. Once Paul arrives in Corinth toward the end of A.D. 50, he writes a letter to the churches in Galatia, expressing great concern about them. Paul’s gospel message is quite simple: we are saved by grace through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Apparently, however, other teachers had followed Paul and were teaching a “gospel” that relied on obedience to the Law, not on God’s grace. In Galatians, Paul sets the churches straight. Logos Bible Study’s Dr. Bill Creasy examines Paul’s epistle and the rhetorical strategies he uses to drive home his points. Language: English. Narrator: uncredited.
