In this book, his first full-length nonfiction work, it's as if Devlin O'Neill at last decides to open a beer and sit down to tell a couple of close friends absolutely everything about the focal subject of his life, the topic they have been curious about for years. He seems to know that what he is about to say will be received as fascinating and extremely helpful and somewhat titillating, in the best sense of the word. Although he does not quite lecture, he speaks with the fine authority and command that is the O'Neill hallmark and not as if he is addressing someone on the level of a naughty boy trying to get a glimpse of a girl's panties. His elegance of language shines through and sets up his listeners to be on their best behavior in the presence of a gentleman, and then he slips in words and phrases that let them know it is all right to grin and to tingle and to squirm a little - and his listeners are just sure that he knows exactly when they do each of these. Spank Her! is an informative, fast-paced, lighthearted romp through Devlin O'Neill's more or less real-life world. Part opinion piece, part sociological treatise, part psychobabble mega-essay, this book rips the tearaway knickers off the shadowy realm that is consensual adult spanking in the 21st century with a smile and a wink and a kiss on the bottom. ungekürzt. Be an instant expert on psychology and Bluff Your Way with all those who seek self-knowledge. No contemplation required, just a sense of humour. From 'Cognitive Therapy' to the 'Collective Unconscious', and from 'Free Will' to 'Freudian Slips', the Bluffer's Guide to Psychology provides all you need to know to understand behaviour and (psycho) babble with the best. Extracts from the book: Babble and Squawk 'Hard' scientists (such as those researching physics and the biochemistry of the nematode worm) often question the status of psychology as a science. Most sensible people, who have managed to escape science as a profession, regard psychology as common sense dressed up in obscure terminology ('psychobabble'). I oink therefore I am Psychology seems to progress using colourful analogies. Over the period of a hundred years, the science of human behaviour has been based on the behaviour of a dog, a rat, a pigeon, a thermostat, a computer and, no doubt soon, a coffee percolator. Only the philosophers can be credited with the original (and somehow more sensible) idea that the study of the human should be based on the mind of a human. An indefinite article Psychologists are obsessed with pointing out that the definition of any concept within psychology, such as intelligence, memory or emotion, is not precise. This also applies to psychology itself. This is a Bluffer's Guide; Bluffer's Guides, Bluffer's Guide, Bluffer's, and Bluff Your Way are Registered Trademarks. ungekürzt. Language: English. In Lean Life, I discovered that the missing piece for a fantastic life is to "know yourself". I believe we think we know what we want in life and the relationships that are important to us, but in fact, most of us are simply clueless. The question is, why? Because we don't know our most important customer...ourselves. It is crucial that we do this with precision and accuracy. There's no room for "kinda sorta". It is the most essential work we will do, and it will almost guarantee a life with deep meaning and happiness.Lean life is the simplicity of living our whole life with intentionality and purpose. We often research, invest, strategize, and work diligently to continuously improve in the workplace yet improvise at home.  Lean Life applies the key "lean" business elements I discuss in 2 Second Lean to our personal lives and relationships. It's the simple and practical shop-floor wisdom of stopping our personal assembly line of defects and mistakes to come up with new and improved solutions.I promise this will not be an intellectual exercise. No psychobabble. I don't understand it, and it never helps me anyway. Rather, this is the perspective of an average guy who happens to be in love with lean life and fixing what bugs him. So if simple and practical is your preference, you're in luck! If you have a modicum of curiosity and you want to see how to do life better, then Lean Life is the right book for you. ungekürzt.
