Faded formed in the summer of 1997, emerging from the depths of the gloomy, foggy sunset district of San Francisco. The band featured darren thompson on guitar, molly pettit on vocals, marco zermeno on bass guitar, and jeremy true on lead guitar, sampling and everything else. Most of the music was written by jeremy, with a few notable collaborations with longtime bandmate darren. Jeremy and molly shared lyrical duties, often collaborating on lyrics for maximum effect. Darren and Jeremy had been playing together in bands since 1990, taking on the shoegazer/alternative/dream pop style around 1993. Their two-guitar interplay allowed for a rich, layered, sound, with a variety of complementary guitar effects, often compared to the Cure, Slowdive, or My Bloody Valentine. After a few years and a few singers, Molly Pettit was recruited to front the band in 1997, with a definte Siouxsie Sioux influence on her sleeve. Bassist Marco Zermeno, fond of bass heavy groups as New Order and U2 rounded the ensemble nicely. They recorded a demo tape which was warmly reviewed by San Francisco's The Guardian, and began playing the local club scene. Faded quickly started to gain a following as an incediary live band. In late 1998 faded began recording a five song e.p. which would later be called 'the low side of ok'. The songs were picked to show the diversity of sounds often blended together by the band. The first song, 'Ascend', was reminiscent of Chapterhouse, with guitars by the Cure, and an epic sing-a-long chorus... 'Over' cranked up the distortion further and launched into a beat-heavy feedback assault akin to the Jesus and Mary Chain or CURVE... 'World View' featured echoing guitars a la Flock of Seagulls or Slowdive with a driving bassline like a lost Joy Division song, with Pettit's angst ridden vocals soaring high above... The bouncy 'Slow Shadows' invoked mid-era His Name is Alive, the Cure and Luna all at once, with both guitars and bass intertwining... The e.p. closer, 'Cold Wind' was the obvious choice for a swan song, as it was the finale of every set for years and years! The chorus of 'whoever said that love was good, never had a love like this' belted out over a wall of sound that would have made My Bloody Valentine proud made this a fave of clubgoers, and the tortured feedback outro made fans of Sonic Youth smile... in 1999 'the low side of ok' was released to critical acclaim and heavy college radio & club rotation. Songs such as 'Over' and 'Cold Wind' were heard blasting from many bay area goth clubs, and KZSC radio pranced 'the low side of ok' the #1 new gothic/darkwave album of the year for 2000. ^#^however, in 2000 internal friction caused the departure of Zermeno and Pettit (thompson had left the band for personal reasons in early 99). this caused a major rethinking of the band for main songwriter Jeremy True, who at this point had been working on this music project for about 7 years straight, with different members. Reluctant to advertise for a whole new band, and looking at a backlog of many 'solo project' songs that had been put on the backburner for many years, True decided to re-envision the band, with his wife, Christina True. Together they re-christened the band 'faded sf' as a nod to San Francisco, and to separate themselves from the glut of new bands all naming themselves 'faded' (in 2004 eight different bands were all attempting to professionally use the same name!) Christina took over the bass guitar playing, and vocal duties for half of the songs. The songs she sang lead on remained close to the classic 'faded' style, while vocally bringing to mind Darling Buds or the softer tones of Bilidna Butcher (from my bloody valentine) Jeremy started singing lead again on many songs, after years of occasional harmony work, with comparisons to Dean Warham of Luna, or Bernard Sumner of New Order. The sound of the band has changed to an extent, leaning more towards bands like New Order, Red House Painters, the Cure, nine inch nails, and Slowdive, while retaining the Curve-ish/Cocteau Twins-esque songs from before. An 'indie' sound is more prevalent, however for every song with a detuned acoustic, there is at least one ambient techno song, for every emo-rock epic, there is a hard driven darkwave dirge... 'broken down, breaking down' was an 8-song CD released in a limited pressing in 2003, featuring the new sound and lin-up. a few years later the band went on hiatus from touring and recording, just recording songs for their own enjoyment... threatening to release them all upon an unsuspecting public sometime in the near future..! Faded strive to bring the idea of a strong melody back to contemporary songwriting. Jeremy shows no reservations about wearing his influences on his sleeves--blending the guitars of the Cure, New Order, and Slowdive, and mixing the rhythms and textures of Curve, Nine Inch Nails and the Jesus and Mary Chain to create 'a wall of sound that would make both Phil Spector and My Bloody Valentine proud', as described by BAM. ^#^write us- say hi!!!

How many artists can claim to have single-handedly originated a musical genre? Italian quintet Belladonna are amongst that rare breed of bands whose absolute uniqueness has enraptured and inspired fans, followers and imitators all over the world. Rock Noir, that Belladonna extraordinary brand of emotionally-charged rock'n'roll melodrama utterly seduced hordes of Music lovers tired of being force-fed today's computer-driven, fake-angst-ridden pseudo-rock down their ears. Metaphysical attraction Belladonna's legendary self-produced debut "Metaphysical Attraction" resounded so deeply in rock fans' collective consciousness that it not only turned the band overnight into one of the most loved unsigned bands on MySpace, but it even bestowed upon them the honor of 2 Grammy Awards 2008 ballot nominations, unprecedented for a DIY band. Over 1.000.000 views on MySpace, magazines like Rolling Stone and GQ hailing them as the 'next big thing", shows with Dita Von Teese at Erotica 07 in London, gigs with Scars On Broadway and Siouxsie & the Banshees, performances at the Dubai International Film Festival - but Belladonna remained unfazed. The noir album Personally invited by alt-rock producer supreme Sylvia Massy (Tool, System of a Down) to record their sophomore album in her all-analog studio in California, USA, in a few incendiary sessions Belladonna committed to tape the 11 Luana/Dani-penned songs of 'The Noir Album'. The record came out in March 2009, entering the Italian iTunes chart and getting rave reviews all over the world. On tour Belladonna premiered 'The Noir Album' live in the USA at L.A.'s Key Club and as official representatives of Italy at Belladonna in March 2009. Back in Italy, the band played as Special Guests to Nine Inch Nails, The Mars Volta, Staind and Korn, on the strength of the first single off "The Noir Album" - the relentless "Till Death Do Us Part" - being Single Of The Week on Italy's biggest rock radio, Virgin Radio. In October they went back to L.A. for a showcase at the Fonda Theater, and then to the UK - where Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson had championed the band by broadcasting "Till Death Do Us Part" on his BBC radio show - for a sold-out headline show at The Garage in London. 2010 saw Belladonna hit the road again, with a European tour in March and a UK club tour in April and in July. Collaboration with michael nyman In December 2010 Belladonna shook the indie rock music world by releasing 'Let There Be Light', a single written in collaboration with legendary English composer Michael Nyman and based on his 'The Heart Asks Pleasure First' from the soundtrack of the Oscar-winning movie "The Piano". Michael Nyman himself plays piano on the track. A truly exceptional event, especially in the light of Belladonna still being a totally self-produced band. And there was light In May 2011 Belladonna released their much-awaited third album, recorded in November in L.A., with the help of Grammy-nominated producer Alex Elena and of Metallica's 'The Black Album' engineer Mike Tacci and titled 'And There Was Light'. The album immediately entered the Italian iTunes Top 100 and garnered ecstatic reviews from all over the world. And while the album hit the shops, Belladonna found themselves mentioned (alongside Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson) in Motley Crue's frontman Vince Neil's autobiography 'Tattoos and Tequila' as one of the acts that have been influenced by the mighty Crue in recent years. On tour all over europe and new album Belladonna spend most of 2012 on tour all over Europe (Germany, Austria, United Kingdom, Italy, Luxembourg, Belgium, Netherlands, Czech Republic) and writing new songs and - in 2 guerrilla sessions in a Rome studio in June and September - recording them for their fourth album, to be released in early 2013.
