  Über den Gelben Fluß

  Der belarusische Autor und Künstler Artur Klinau stellt sein neues Buch ?Acht Tage Revolution. Ein dokumentarisches Journal aus Minsk? vor, das 2021 bei Suhrkamp erschienen ist. Das Buch schildert die ersten acht Tage nach den belarusischen Präsidentschaftswahlen 2020, als der autoritäre Staat die Proteste Tausender Menschen gegen das offizielle Wahlergebnis brutal niederschlug. Auf Grundlage seiner eigenen Erfahrungen in diesen Tagen ? als Mensch, Staatsbürger, Vater, Augenzeuge und Teilnehmer ? beschäftigt sich Klinau mit Autoritarismus und Diktatur und sucht nach den Wurzeln der für derartige politische Systeme typischen Gewalt.Neben dem Gespräch zwischen Artur Klinau und Annett Gröschner werden Passagen aus seinem Buch auf Belarusisch und Deutsch von Iryna Herasimovich gelesen.________________________________________________________________________________________Belarusian writer and artist Artur Klinau presents his new book ?Acht Tage Revolution. Ein dokumentarisches Journal aus Minsk? (?Eight Days of Revolution: A Documentary Journal from Minsk?) published by Suhrkampf Verlag in 2021. The book describes the first eight days after the 2020 presidential elections in Belarus, when the authoritarian state had brutally reacted to the demonstrations by thousands of people who went to the streets to voice their disagreement with the result of the elections. Based on his own experience of these first days ? as a man, a citizen, a father, a spectator and a participant ? Klinau explores authoritarianism and dictatorship from the perspective of an individual asking about the roots of violence as a feature of these political systems. Next to the talk between Artur Klinau and Annett Gröschner, excerpts from the book will be read in Belarusian and German with the support of Iryna Herasimovich.

Doch sind sie das tatsächlich?Unter welchen Umständen siegen derartige Proteste, die sich gewaltsamen Methoden verweigern? Was erreichen sie? Fortschritt, einen anhaltenden Prozess oder Rückschritt? Wo liegt ihr Ausgangspunkt, und was ist ihr endgültiges Ziel? Wie lässt sich die Spannung zwischen der Praxis der friedlichen Proteste und ihren utopischen Horizonten erfassen? Authoritarianism has various faces and strategies for the suppression of civic protests, with brutal violence at the extreme end of the spectrum. One thing authoritarian regimes have in common is the fear of people gatherings ? of the bodies that dance, sing and fight ? as if it is the most powerful weapon. Is it?When do these protests, which refuse violent methods, win? What do they result in ? progress, a process or regress? What is their starting point, and what is their final destination? How can this tension between the praxis of peaceful protests and their utopian horizons be grasped? Together with the speakers, we will reflect upon these and other questions from the perspective of different geographies and political systems.
