That Roadhouse songs are regularly played along with Allmans, Johnny Lang, Bonnie Raitt and Etta James discs by DJs in the US, and indeed worldwide, speaks volumes..... This music travels and it must be said that the 'wheels on the bus' are the band's own compositions and their dynamic arrangements. It has been clear from gigs during recent months that the songs new to the band's repertoire were something special!!..........Gary Boner, guitarist / singer, has already established a name for himself as a fine songwriter, but he has excelled himself this time! Gary is chief writer who tends towards (often epic) storytelling. Boner is aided and abetted on the delivery of these tales by the pool of female vocalists who work with the band in the studio and live - Anne, Sue and Lorna. Most groups would be glad to have any one of these singers aboard and they are part of what makes Roadhouse a band to see live!! Add to this the storming and solid rhythm section and you have a powerhouse act who meet the demands of producing fine music and superb live performances...... The atmosphere attained on their songs is a tribute to the players, witness Anne Campbell's gorgeous reading of 'Brooklyn Blues'. 'Lost Along The Way' has echoes of Traffic's 'Pearly Queen', the chorus'd guitar of 'Slip Away' will stay with you like a small stone in your shoe. Jules Fothergill's love of Derek Trucks' slide style has contributed to his own skipping fluidity. Every track seems to kick off with such confidence that you would think these numbers had been played for decades. 'Lost In Pain' has Jefferson Airplane hanging chordal stabs and a characteristic joint vocal and is one of the best tracks on this release, that 'Couldn't Get To Sleep' was worth revisiting is beyond doubt and again it's edgy tension is warmed by a unison vocal chorus and an empathetic rhythmic base. If LZep's 'Battle of..' ever did it for you, try this. The whole CD is a wonderful and varied collection of songs played to the highest standard by a group of fine musicians. It deserves to take the band on to a higher level......- Shop: odax

Here & Now
Produced by Daniel Boner Daysight Music, LLC Here and Now introduces bluegrass listeners to David Grindstaff performing with an all-star lineup of bluegrass power hitters. Produced and engineered by Daniel Boner, Here and Now includes thirteen tracks, featuring David on mandolin and bass along with instrumental performances by Adam Steffey, Tim Stafford, Hunter Berry, Jim Van Cleve, Josh Swift, Daniel Boner, Will Parsons, Haley Stiltner, Colby Laney, David Babb, and Andy Blevins. Grammy award-winning guitarist and co-author of three of the album's songs, Tim Stafford says, "David Grindstaff is a star-in-waiting in the small universe of bluegrass music, a regional name who should be known soon to a much wider audience." "David has a voice with range and character reminiscent of Dan Tyminski, and that ain't a bad thing." David possesses a unique and rich voice with an essence of maturity that could be associated with artists well beyond his years. These endearing qualities are evident in songs such as, "Memories of an Angel" and "I'll Never Let Her Go." Complementary harmony vocals are provided by Jason Crawford and Daniel Salyer. During his time as a student of the world-renown East Tennessee State University Bluegrass, Old Time and Country Music Program, David became acquainted with Norwegian vocalist, Signe Salvesen. Their voices blend for an inspiring duet rendition of "Either Way, I'm Going Home," co-written by Bobby Starnes and Tim Stafford. The musicians demonstrate remarkable musical dexterity throughout the album, particularly on fast-tempo songs like "Jack up the Jail" and "Lost, and I'll Never Find the Way." Artistry and creativity are exemplified through the lyrics of songs such as "The Tinker Man," written by Will Parsons. "David Grindstaff has made one gem of an album," says multi award-winning mandolin player, Adam Steffey. "He is one of the hidden talents in this music, but I'm sure that won't be the case for long! The strong material and excellent presentation of his abilities on this recording is just the beginning." "Enjoy what I'm sure will be the first of many great albums from this talented young man!"
