'The Green Flag' is a collection of short stories from the much-loved 'Sherlock Holmes' author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. First published in 1895, stories in the collection include archaeology thriller 'The New Catacomb', pirate tale 'Captain Sharkey' and the suspenseful 'The Lord of Chateau Noir'. An enjoyable collection from the prolific author.Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) was a British author, best known as the creator of the world-famous detective Sherlock Holmes. Born in Edinburgh, he was educated in England and Austria before studying medicine at the University of Edinburgh. It was during his time at university that Doyle began writing short stories, submitting them to magazines and journals. His first Sherlock Holmes novel, 'A Study in Scarlet' was written in just three weeks and published in 1887 to favourable reviews, and more Sherlock adventures followed. By 1893, Doyle was growing tired of Sherlock and attempted to kill him off in the story 'The Final Problem', but public outcry caused him to resurrect the famous detective. He featured in a total of 56 short stories and four novels along with his trusty sidekick Dr Watson and made Doyle one of the best-paid authors of the time. The stories have been adapted multiple times; most recently in the successful BBC series 'Sherlock' starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. Later literary works included the Professor Challenger series which began with 'The Lost World', in which Challenger sets out to find evidence of prehistoric life. The book inspired numerous adaptations, including the films 'Jurassic Park' and 'The Lost World'. In later life Doyle became captivated by the world of spiritualism and the occult and published non-fiction works about his beliefs including 'The Coming of the Fairies'. Arthur Conan Doyle died at home in 1930.

Horror author C. Dennis Moore returns with his first short story collection, the one that prompted Cemetery Dance magazine to call him "an author worth keeping an eye on." When the original publisher went out of business, the book went out of print, but now it's back in both print and audiobook formats to once again invite readers on 25 terrifying journeys. In Terrible Thrills, Moore packs a punch with some of his shortest stories, proving brevity really is the key to effective communication. The horrors inside include a late night Halloween attraction that traps half a dozen people in an underground catacomb. Lost in the dark with no way out, one guest treads a dark path into madness and paranoia in a story that combines the atmosphere of Edgar Allan Poe with the scares of Stephen King. In "The Son of Man", three friends discover a living, growing creature is forming in the clouds outside one of their houses. And while the whispered words echoing through their heads usually inspire hope in the faithful, this time the friends aren't so sure it doesn't spell their doom. "Plaything" and "Parliament of Jim" take wildly different looks at the question of identity and free will, while "The Stand-In" poses the question "How much does where we come from determine where we're going?" as the narrator tries to track down his birth father, an abusive psychopath out for revenge. In "Working for the Fat Man", an immortal Santa Claus uses the names on his Naughty list to feed his powers, but what happens if he slips up and nabs one of the Nice kids instead? "In the Town of Broken Dreams" watches the town of Yellow Brook, KS, as they chase down and execute a mysterious stranger, then live with the consequences of their actions as everyone in town slowly succumbs to the bad luck that follows. ungekürzt. This book will blow away your preconceptions of the almighty American Empire and its enterprises. I guarantee it!This book takes its title from the 1980 comedy film The Gods Must Be Crazy, in which an empty Coca-Cola bottle is dropped from a plane onto a community of African bushmen. The bottle is thought to be a gift from the Gods, but after it incites bitter fighting amongst the villagers, the tribal leader decides to return it to the Gods, embarking upon a journey to the end of the world. Through my own metaphorical coke bottle, I visualize the dawn of a daunting new Empire.  This book serves as both a testament to the past glories of the current American Empire and a guidebook to restoring Capitalism and Enterprise – before it is too late.Steve Hilton: ”A lot of people say that China wants to replace the US as the superpower.... Do you believe that that's their intention?"Trump: "Yes, I do. Why wouldn't it be? They're very ambitious people. They're very smart. They're great people. It's a great culture."(Fox News interview, 05-19-19)It’s halftime America! Ay Yi Yai Yi!  We are in the middle of The New World Order!Empires rise, decline, and fall. History has witnessed this cycle with the Romans, the Ottomans, and the British. They have all toppled, and if we are not careful, the US will be the next. Many of today’s enterprises are a gaggle of debt-addicted extreme financial engineering frogs floundering in tepid snake oil. Unfortunately, many will find their demise in the clutches of IP vultures. If we don't play our trump cards right, the next voracious Empire - the Middle Kingdom of China - will consume us; sending their errand boys to collect bills from the US and over a hundred other countries that it has economically and digitally colonized since the Economic Tsunami of 2008, through “Belt and Road Initiative” (BRI) to its “Digital Silk Road” (DSR). ungekürzt.
