The Dutch National Ballet
The 7th Symphony by Beethoven is often referred to as a 'dance symphony' and was described by Wagner as a 'grand apotheosis of the dance', but van Schayk hears in the music the voice of an almost obsessive idealism. Beethoven wrote the his Symphony No. 7 between 1812 and 1813, the last years of the Napoleonic Wars, and the choreographer feels that it expresses the composer's ecstatic longing to reach the sublime future he was convinced lay ahead at the end of the dark period of the war.Music performed by The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, conducted by Bernard Haitink. A great admirer of George Balanchine, Hans van Manen was once told that Beethoven was one of the few composers whose work was impossible to choreograph. Van Manen rose to the challenge, creating Grosse Fuge to Beethoven's String Quartets, opus 133 in B flat major (Grosse Fuge) and the Cavatina from opus 130 in B flat major. The resulting work is an abstract ballet on van Manen's favourite theme - the tension and relationships between human beings. Marina Porckhidze & Vladimir Shinov- American citizens,family team,piano duet, multi- faceted artists, whose activities include performing, composing,teaching, accompanying,arranging, music editing,musicology, poetry writing . Marina Porchkhidze -is an alumnus of piano division at Tbilisi State Music College [Georgian republic-in former Soviet Union],where she has been a winner of college piano competitions, continued music studies privately with Nathan Perelman and Oleg Malov in Leningrad, and then studied at Petrozavodsk Branch of Leningrad conservatory[now St. Petersburg conservatory]. Appointed to the piano faculty of the Petrozavodsk State College of Arts, Karelia, she produced number of students who has gone on to professional careers. Marina has performed many concerts as soloist- pianist/ and duo of Karelian State Philarmony. In 1987 Marina with her husband Vladimir Shinov founded the first private music school for children in Karelia, where they taught piano, theory, music literature, and directed students in writing and performing their own piano music and theatrical compositions[mini-operas]. Since 1993 the family team has been living in Manhattan, where they have established The Marina's piano studio /212-586-5716/ The students are enjoying playing piano,improvising and composing music. Many of the students have successfully passed the auditions in the most prestigious art schools in USA. Among her students: pianists from different music schools and colleges, who are wishing to refine their skills and find out something new, singers,dancers. Children are very special students here. Marina's composition "One',choreographic novelettes, was written in collaboration with V. Shinov. Vladimir Shinov - composer's music embraces a wide range of media, including works for orchestra, vocal-symphonic and chamber ensembles, opera, ballets, numerous choruses, songs, piano pieces. He has also written a book and articles on composition training. He has worked with many prominent ensembles and presenters, including the Karelian State Philarmony Orchestra, Petrozavodsk University Chorus, Sanct-Petersburg conservatory's string quartet. His works are published in the " Compozitor" Publishing house in St.Petersburg [ Russia], have been broadcasted on TV and radio shows. Vladimir Shinov is an alumnus of Petrozavodsk Branch of Leningrad State Conservatory,where he majored in composition and music theory. In 2002 Shinov's Ballet "Sketches" has received great acclaim in New York and Miami, where it has been performed by Elizabeth Higgins Dance Theatre. Ballet by V.Shinov "Mother Goose", choreographed by K.Michael, has been premiered by dance company New York Theatre Ballet on March 4, 2005 at Florence Gould Hall/ New York City with live performance of duet- M.Porchkhidze & V.Shinov. In 2004, one of USA's prominent specialist in classical music, Karl Haas, the creator of the longest running radio show " Adventures in good music " has referred the CD of the piano duet " Masterpieces of French Music" to the listeners of the radio[see discography]. Tricia Walker is a singer and songwriter whose songs are steeped in the passion, pain and grace of the American South. What's In The Water?
The Snark-a-Snoops were created by 2007 Grammy-award winner, Trish Sie, and her longtime pal, Christin Underwood. These two gals know that they've come up with an unlikely combination: singing, dancing and science. But they've also discovered that this combustible composite works wonders to ignite children's interest in science, while getting them moving and grooving at the same time. Sie and Underwood have a history of implausible joint ventures and freaky fusions, including a hip-hop book club rap outfit called Turnikit, a multi-media artists collective called Babaghanoush, and a completely ludicrous nature-and-food-based creative movement troupe called The Fruit Flies. But in the fall of 2004, during a series of spastic attempts to entertain Trish's young son, the two stumbled across their most magical formula yet: sing crack-pot songs, dance around like lunatics, and conduct all manner of far-out science experiments using household items and funny-sounding words. Ka-ping, ka-pow, ka-bam: The Snark-a-Snoops were born. In October, 2004, the Snark-a-Snoops released their first CD, "Who's Living In This Cave?!", featuring ten original songs and the production assistance of Grammy-nominated Martin Bejerano and music engineer Pete Thornton.
