Hedda Gabler, a play in four acts by Henrik Ibsen, was published in 1890. The first production in English was in April 1891 in London. The title role of Hedda is considered one of the great dramatic roles in theatre. Hedda and George Tesman have just returned from their six-month honeymoon tour of the Tyrol. George, a studious and somewhat dull academic has spent most of the time continuing his research. Hedda, the daughter of the celebrated, aristocratic General Gabler, recently deceased, has been accustomed to the finer things in life. She is already bored in her marriage and diverts herself with her father's pistols and the attentions of family friend, Judge Brack. The Tesman's future prosperity rests on the promise of a university appointment for George, but the arrival of Eilert Lovborg, a former admirer of Hedda, and a competitor for Tesman's academic position throws a shadow of uncertainty over this appointment. Prompted by jealousy of an old schoolfriend and her desire to have power over a human destiny, Hedda embarks upon a course of actions with tragic consequences. Collected and edited by Dorothy ScarboroughNarrated by Susan Iannucci, Marty Krz, Jennifer Fournier, and John Burlinson.Dorothy Scarborough (1878-1935) was an academic and author who had a particular interest in the supernatural. The following collection, first published in 1921, features stories that have a strong comical or satirical focus. In the introduction, the anthologist notes:The modern spook is possessed not only of humor but of a caustic satire as well. Floyd Dell: A Collection of Plays , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 255min
Floyd Dell: A Short Play Collection Presented by The Online Stage Floyd Dell has been called "one of the most flamboyant, versatile, and influential American Men of Letters of the first third of the 20th century". Though he was primarily a newspaper and magazine editor, most prominently of the radical left-wing magazine The Masses, he also published many best-selling feminist works. As a staunch advocate of feminism, socialism, psychoanalysis, and progressive education, his writing greatly shocked the American bourgeoisie at the time, to the point where it became so controversial, he was put on trial twice for his subversive literature. This is a complete collection of all 11 of his short plays, which include many delights, such as a dialogue musing upon the curiosities of human nature, fights between lovers, a tragic fantasy story, and even a comedic take on a popular biblical tale. 1 Human Nature 2 The Chaste Adventures of Joseph 3 The Angel Intrudes 4 Legend 5 Sweet-And-Twenty 6 A Long Time Ago 7 Enigma 8 Ibsen Revisited 9 King Arthur's Socks 10 The Rim of the World 11 Poor Harold Featuring the voices of Leanne Yau, Anna Grace, Tomas Peter, Marty Krz, Tom Fisher, Tom Saer, Michelle Marie, Ben Stevens, Lee Ann Howlett, Sarah Mitchell, John Burlinson, Graham Scott, Denis Daly, Andy Harrington, Chris Marcellus, Jennifer Fournier, Sarah Bacaller, Larry Wilson, Amanda Friday, Alan Weyman, Joseph Tabler, Ted Wenskus, Nancy German, Mark Crowle-Groves, Shirley Savage, and PJ Morgan. The Raven Edition - Volume Three - The Narrative of A. Gordon Pym , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 462min
The Raven Edition of the works of Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) presents his entire literary output in five volumes. Volume Three contains The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket, Poe's longest work, as well as six stories. The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym is Poe's only complete novel. It describes the adventures of a young stowaway on a whaling ship, and includes incidences of shipwreck, mutiny, and capture by hostile tribes. This short story is one of those things that literally took a village to accomplish. From bouncing around ideas to coming up with the characters to listening to me ramble on and on and on about it. In itself, it is a fun little piece that the author fell in love with while trying to flesh out a few of the main characters of his fLUX Runners series.CastNarrator - Jennie VanderLugtTrae - Andy HarringtonFergus - Jeff Moon Barman (Max) - Marty KrzSalorians - John BurlinsonText copyright 2019 William Joseph RobertsMusicExcerpts from Black BettyBy Lost HighwaysAudio edited by Denis Daly ungekürzt.
