Infections in Hematology
Infections are among the most frequent complications in patients with hematological malignancies and in those undergoing high-dose chemotherapy and autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. A profound knowledge on the epidemiology, diagnostic approaches, treatment modalities and prophylactic strategies is essential for the clinical management of these complications in patients who are often severely immunocompromised owing to their underlying diseases and in particular, the intensive myelosuppressive chemo and immunotherapy. This textbook provides a clinically oriented, compact and up-to-date overview on infections in hematology patients and their management. The typical pathogens to be considered in different subgroups of patients are identified and further aspects of the microbiological background are explored. Clinical, imaging, and laboratory-based diagnostic techniques are discussed and therapeutic strategies appropriate to different situations are then presented, with due attention to the pitfalls, toxicities and interactions that can arise during antimicrobial treatment. Strategies to prevent infection are also outlined, encompassing antimicrobial prophylaxis, isolation procedures, hospital hygiene, protective immunization and the use of hematopoietic growth factors.- Shop: buecher

The Minor Prophets of the Septuagint in English , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 219min
Before you are the books referred to as the Minor Prophets. This portion of the Septuagint contains the books of Osee, Joel, Amos, Obdias, Jonas, Michaeas, Naum, Ambacum, Sophonias, Aggaeus, Zacharias, and Malachias. As the known world became Hellenized, the Jews began to lose their ability to read and write Hebrew. Jewish leaders were alarmed that soon no one would be able to read and teach the Torah. Owing to this, a Greek version was commissioned. The earliest writer who gives an account of the Septuagint version is Aristobulus, a Jew who lived at the commencement of the second century BC. He says that the version of the Law into Greek was completed under the reign of Ptolemy Philadelphus, and that Demetrius Phalereus had been employed about it. ungekürzt. Language: English. 27 D Street , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 300min
27 D Street is a creative selection of short stories recollected by a young boy growing up in a small mill village in Georgia in the early 1950s. The stories and the unique characters that played them out in real life, over time, became the village that shaped the young boy, Lawrence, and his life. From Grandma Bledsoe, to Mr. Marvin, to the mill village baseball team, to his buddy Harold, to the Goat Man himself, each led lasting impressions on his life. Yearning for something better than owing your soul to the mill village store, Lawrence had dreams of something better. Or, looking back, was it that bad? Each chapter is a descriptive memory picture that still hangs on the walls of the author's mind to this day. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Dale Rich.
