Adveni
Adveni was named in the Top Ten Classical Releases of 2013 by Iowa Public Radio! Congratulations on creating such an incredible "gem" .... UNA VOCIS........in my home state of Iowa.... and for committing your entire organization to fostering the writing and performance of new choral music. You make me very proud! - Dale Warland Liner notes: The music and texts of this CD give voice to an urge as old as mankind itself: the desire to be in relationship with the All-powerful Being, to experience the coming of the One. To express the longing and achieve the immediacy of imploring the Godhead to come to us, this CD has been titled Adveni, the first word of Eric Whitacre's The Chelsea Carol. Adveni is the imperative form of advenio (come to), a Latin verb whence arises Advent, the period of anticipation for the birth of the Savior. Adveni expresses the urgency and longing heard in both the texts and their settings. As the text and music stand in relationship with each other, so too do those who give them voice: poets, composers, singers, and listeners. Each engages in an expression of that longing, whether poet or witness, all are in relationship with one another as we anticipate God's entering into closer communion with us. This anticipation and urgency are paired with wonder and tenderness and joy. Consider the three settings of the O magnum mysterium text on this recording. These settings, from Victoria's 1572 setting of the text, through Lauridsen's in 1994, and Gjeilo's in 2012, bespeak the wonder of the "great mystery and wonderful sacrament, that animals should see the new-born Lord, lying in their manger" and celebrate it's profound impact on all creation. Whitacre's and Heitzeg's settings of e.e. cumming's poem little tree manifest the wonder and joy of a child contemplating the small tree he and his sister will be decorating for Christmas, the child reassures the tree that it, too, has a vital role in celebrating the coming of Christmas. Anticipation and joy join in Jalkeus' Prepare The Way, Paulus' Gabriel's Message, and Daley's The World's Desire. These pieces affirm our surety in the anticipated fulfillment of God's promise to send his Son. With the arrival of the Savior comes His turn to bid us "Adveni." His invitation to the world is as imperative as ours to Him. "Come to me." God calls us through the person of his Son, who deigned to dwell among us. Lauridsen's O Nata Lux and Helvey's O Lux Beatissima capture the supplicant's movement into the light of Presence, the incarnation of Love. Your partaking of this recording acknowledges the universal longing for relationship, through it you enter into relationship with Una Vocis and the music and, by extension, with the poets and composers in their efforts to give voice to the longing and wonder of this Advent season as we await the fulfillment of God's promise to send our Savior: We wait "For Him who is to come." About Una Vocis Choral Ensemble: Una Vocis Choral Ensemble is an auditioned adult choir centered in Mason City, Iowa. Una Vocis was founded and is directed by Dennis Lee of Mason City and accompanied by Mary Jane Crail of Clear Lake. Since it's inception in January 2005, Una Vocis has focused on providing a challenging and fulfilling choral music experience for it's members and an innovative and enjoyable concert experience for it's audience. Since the first concert, this ensemble has continued a passion for new music, having commissioned and premiered many new choral works. In 2012 and 2013 Una Vocis worked with some incredible composers on commissions and premieres, including Eric Whitacre, Mary Jane Crail, Dale Warland, Britlin Losee, and Alice Parker. The future holds more excitement with upcoming commissions with local and international composers. Building on the musical heritage of north Iowa, the mission of Una Vocis Choral Ensemble is to cultivate and celebrate the connections among audience, singers and composers. This diverse community entertains, educates and uplifts through innovative programming and artistic distinction. Our recording process: We record in Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City, Iowa with two Earthworks TC30K small capsule omni-directional condenser microphones, two Audio-Technica 4050 large diaphragm condenser microphones, and one Carvin CM98ST large diaphragm tube condenser microphone. For some pieces with instruments we add an AKG C3000B large diaphragm condenser microphone. This recording strives to show Una Vocis in a true light within a wonderful acoustical space. No splicing or heavy digital processing was done to our recordings. This gives the listener an "unobstructed view" of the choir, but you will also hear the fact we were in a real space with real people. Tracks 3, 13, and 16 were recorded in December 2011, tracks 4, 8, 14, and 15 in December 2012, and the balance in November 2013.- Shop: odax

A Quasitangible Instantiation of Our Dynamic Metaconsciousne
ABOUT THE ALBUM With luscious, morphing melodies fused into wildly ecstatic passion, this album defines euphoria--of the pseudovaguely psychedelic sort(?). MUSIC QUOTES "A Quasitangible Instantiation of our Dynamic Metaconsciousness" is awe striking, perfectly mixed and polished piece of art. Music is very interesting, that is some kind of mix of psy-trance, maybe a little metallic influence, and some other undefined weird electronica. You can savor the silence between the music! It's the sound quality and little sounds and tweaks that prevent you from closing your jaw. This album is more hard and psytrance stamped, than 'converting vegetarians' but it's so impressive you won't mind. This really is a must have Psytrance Release! Even if you prefer other similar electronic styles. For those of you who didn't really get into this type of genre, will really admire the talent of DJ Blorgpulkf Plorksickle after listening to his masterpiece. We hope it will inspire other psytrance producers in the scene to concentrate on: - Unique and Interesting sounds that work well together. - Music composition that moves and flows being energetic and articulate. Amazing attention to detail, Phenomenal!! - Voice samples, interesting and integrated and not just stuck in there because they sound cool (but they sound Sweeeeet). - Music that uplifts the soul and gets those natural chemicals flowing in the brain. - AMAdea Records, BULGARIA.- Shop: odax

Streams
The CD 'Streams' presents my latest piano music (played by Swiss pianist Patricia Siffert) and a piece for string orchestra & harp (performed by Sinfonica Aosta, Italy). I am a British composer writing in the classical style. My initial source of inspiration is from within, a place where I feel the life-force, which can be experienced as streams of light and sound, can be accessed. Hence the CD title 'Streams'. If the music inspires or uplifts the listener, and can enable them to discover that place or source within themselves, then I am delighted and feel the music has been successful. One of the loveliest things that I hear quite regularly from people who have heard my music is that they went on a journey through the music. People experience being transported out of the concert hall, often getting visual experiences. I am interested in dreams, in soul and it's nature, and it may be that the music helps people to access that different state where they are able to experience freedom and gain insights away from physical constraints. 'I just wanted to email and say how much I've been enjoying your CD, 'Streams'. As ever with your music, there is something very cleansing about it and to listen to it is to go on a spiritual journey. It never fails to carry me to another world. Many thanks for all the pleasure it gives me.' Jane Pearson (journalist and writer) 'Your pieces brought to mind journeys, traveling, experiencing, in relationships, to places, along rivers, life events. Also the many layers of experience (always changing, moving, interacting, giving and receiving) of mind, body, emotions, heart and soul.' Dr K.P. Leicester, England. The title of 'Passage' (one of the piano solos), is almost a play on words, exploring the ideas of transformation, journey, the passage of time or a tunnel or channel as well as simply a piece of music. Similarly, 'Streams' (4 movements), stems from the inspiration of currents of water, from a small source to a powerful waterfall, a steady flow of energy and streams of light and consciousness. This, too, can be described as a journey, 'within the Eternal', reflected by melody, set against mantras of one note or group of notes, or the hum of the harmonic. The CD also includes two other piano solos, 'Always' and 'Apres', and 'Light Falling' for string orchestra and harp played by the Italian orchestra Sinfonica Aosta. Here are some more reviews of my music: "Rosemary Duxbury has the gift of melody" Brian Lee, Caduceus magazine 'Rosemary's music has that combination of artistic integrity and accessibility to a wide audience that eludes most contemporary composers' Stephen Gamble, classical music critic, Leicester Mercury. 'One admires Rosemary's integrity and the sustained quality of her work which combines subtle techniques and developing her special brand of minimalism within a profound spiritual context. The effect of her music is both powerful and accessible, attracting interest from the music lover to the musically trained listener, performer or composer.' Anthony Pither, Director of Music, University of Leicester 'Your new album is stunning' G.C., Kent, England 'Thanks so much for your lovely CD.It is magnificent! I was particularly impressed with the first track with the strings. Beautiful!' A.S., Tennessee, USA 'I just wanted to write and tell you how beautiful and exquisite your music is - it's really moving.' A.H., Nuremberg, Germany This music has been performed around Europe, in America and Canada, and has been broadcast on American, British and Canadian radio. As well as being performed in the concert repertoire, my compositions have been used in multi-media performances, choreographed for dance, for ice skating, used in theatre, and for short film.- Shop: odax
