18.178,182 Kilometer to Paradise
Sich täglich auf Neues einlassen, egal was kommt: "Enjoy your day. I ll do my best."- Shop: buecher

The Cook Islands: Rarotonga, Aitutaki & Beyond: Travel Adventures , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 53min
The Cook Islands, named after the British Captain who seems to have been everywhere in the Pacific, are scattered like tiny jewels over a large stretch of sea between Tahiti and Samoa. Rarotonga, the principal island, is 2,500 miles due south of Honolulu - as far south of the equator as Honolulu is north of it - a similarity that provides both places with ideal climates. But that's as far as the similarity goes, for in spite of their recently built international airport, the Cooks remain off the beaten path. Even Avarua, the port, capital, and mecca to these 15 islands, is little concerned with tourists. Here there are no buildings taller than the highest palm, no traffic lights, and the people - who speak English with a New Zealand accent - are friendly and don't regard visitors as walking money. All amenities, all reasonable comforts are available, and everything seems to work. You can drink the water, eat the vegetables, be addressed in English, there's no tipping, and happily for Americans the US dollar goes a fairly long way. The natural beauty, particularly on Rarotonga with its forest-covered mountains, verdant coastal plain, and fringing reef, is profound. It'll take your breath away when first seen and some insist that Rarotonga is a miniature English-speaking Tahiti. The population of these islands comes to a mere 18,000. On some of them there are 50 people, on others 700, a few are uninhabited, and, until recently, another had a population of just one. On Rarotonga, the largest island, there are 9,300 people. This independent nation may be small in population, but it is large in area. Cook Islanders are Polynesians, handsome light brown Polynesians, who refer to themselves with pride as the original Maoris - the ones who made the ancient voyage of discovery to New Zealand. They are outgoing people, hospitable and warm, but not nearly as animated as their Tahitian cousins who speak the same language. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Scott Servheen. Legend of the Lost Maori: A Ghost Tribe Series, Volume 1 , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 176min
200 years ago...Men, women, and children flee for their lives as gunfire ricochets all around them. Aranui, chief of the Ghost Tribe, realizes his people are trapped as they arrive at the end of the narrow trail surrounded by rock walls too steep to climb. The British soldiers will reach them soon, and the tribes' hand-held weapons, although formidable, are no match for the soldiers' advanced fire power. Aranui knows there's only one option to ensure his peoples' safety. When the soldiers come to the same dead-end moments later, the Ghost Tribe isn't there. Present day Auckland"Your sister is dying." Kupe, a 10-year-old, is devastated when he hears the grim news about Cecelia, his little sister. That was a while ago, and a bunch of doctors and their modern medicine hasn't been able to help her, so Kupe leaves Auckland. The Maori boy heads to the countryside to seek comfort and advice from Tipuna, his grandfather. Tipuna still believes in many of the old ways of the indigenous Maori people of New Zealand and tells Kupe that Cecelia may be cured of her cancer. However, the boy must find the Ghost Tribe, a group of ancient Maoris, who are rumored to have magical powers which let them live without the threat of disease or death. But nobody has seen the Ghost Tribe for over 150 years, no one except....Tipuna gives Kupe a beautifully carved amulet found by a hunter, who claims he witnessed people dressed in 18th century clothes and holding spears in a remote forest that supposedly is haunted. When the warriors realize they are being spied on, they vanish before the hunter's eyes. The only evidence of the mysterious men's presence is the amulet, with a carving of a giant Moa bird, the symbol of the Ghost Tribe. Alone, armed with nothing but a flashlight, spear, and the amulet, Kupe wastes little time and ventures into the primeval forest at night in search of the Ghost Tribe. He is afraid like he has neve ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Robert Wrenlock of Island Audio. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/180878/bk_acx0_180878_sample.mp3.
[.] Wer etwas tiefer einsteigen will, dem sei Heretaunga Pat Baker empfohlen: 'Die letzte Prophezeiung'."Christhard Läpple, Redaktionsleiter "Aspekte", ZDF- Shop: buecher

The Natural Gardener
his is not your average gardening book. In it you will discover how to increase your crop yield and grow healthier, better tasting food, whilst reducing work in your garden and forking out less on your fertiliser. This seemingly impossible win-win is achieved by planting and reaping in tune with the phases of the moon. Lunar gardening has been around for as long as man has pulled food from the soil. It was practised by the Incas and the Native Americans, and is still followed by the Maoris and rural communities in Eastern Europe. Because it works. But with the mass adoption of fertilisers achieving quicker results for a need-it-now-generation, these techniques have been all but forgotten by the modern gardener. Until now. Head gardener at Cornwall's famous Tresillian Estate, John Harris has researched, studied and put in to practise the principles of gardening by the phases of the moon for more than forty years. The results he's achieved are nothing short of astonishing. He has never watered his garden (even during the drought of 1976), he only grows organically and yet he's won numerous show awards and prizes for the size, abundance and taste of his produce. In The Moon Gardener, he shows you how you can do the same by following a few simple principles. Moon gardening is not some groundless fad. It's been followed for thousands of years with great success. Anyone who's met John Harris knows he's one of the most down-to-earth people you could wish to meet. This book, written in his own inimitable style, is packed full of tips that improve results, anecdotes that inspire and resources you can rely on. Its ultimate aim is to pass on John's treasure trove of horticultural knowledge to future generations, so that we can all get more from our garden. And before you ask, no: moon gardening doesn't mean you have to start digging at night.- Shop: buecher
