1962 erschien der Film ?Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? in den Kinos. Der psychologische Horrorthriller über zwei alternde weibliche Filmstars wurde zu einem überraschende Erfolg und begründete ein ganz neues Film-Genre: den sogenannten Psycho Biddy- oder Hagsploitation-Film. Ein Bild, das zur Ikone geworden ist.Dieses Jahr werden die Mitglieder von She She Pop alle um die 50 Jahre alt sein. Und so beschäftigen sie sich in Hexploitation mit der Angst vor der hag, der alten Frau und der Hexe. Dafür setzen die Performerinnen selbstverständlich ihre alternden Körper ein. Mit ihnen kämpfen sie gegen das Verschwinden und den Bedeutungsverlust, den Frauen jenseits der Gebärfähigkeit als gesellschaftliche Subjekte erleiden. Bis heute dient die Bezeichnung ´Hexe´ dazu, Frauen zu disziplinieren oder sie sozial herabzusetzen. Die Hexe, die anarchische, häretische Frau, steht für unproduktive Sexualität und für allgemein deviantes Verhalten gegenüber Machtstrukturen und Autoritäten.In ?Hexploitation? sperren She She Pop sich und ihr Publikum in einen Bühnenraum als düster-kitschiges Film-Set, aus dem es kein Entrinnen gibt. Die Live-Kamera dient ihnen als Vergrößerungsspiegel und intimes Untersuchungsinstrument. Mit ihrer Hilfe erforschen She She Pop als alternde psycho biddies eigene verstörende Makel und Obsessionen, sie spüren Tabus nach und untersuchen tradierte Hexendarstellungen. This has become an iconic image.This year, the members of She She Pop will all be about 50. And so, they explore society?s fear of the ?hag? - the old woman and witch ? in their new production Hexploitation. Naturally, they will be using their ageing bodies for this purpose: to fight against the invisibility and loss of status that women suffer in society when they are no longer of childbearing age. To this day, the term ?witch? is used to belittle or reduce women. The witch - an anarchic, heretical woman - stands for sexuality beyond reproduction and subversive behaviour towards power structures and authorities.In ?Hexploitation?, She She Pop lock themselves and the audience in a mise en scène reminiscent of a low-lit, kitschy film set from which there is no escape. A live camera serves as a magnifying glass and intimate examining tool. With its help, the She She Pop team, in the guise of ageing psycho biddies, explore their own disturbing imperfections and obsessions, go in search of taboos and examine traditional witchcraft. They also discover the camera as a magic box through which they can repeatedly transcend their bodies to create liberating self-portraits, coupled with melodramatic disgust and comical lust, reminiscent of Norma Desmond?s memorable line: ?Mr DeMille, I?m ready for my close-up!? It is unlikely the reader could complete the novel without recognizing both the good and bad character traits of priests and ministers he may have known, as well as his own. The author holds degrees in philosophy and English; taught English and Drama for 15 years at Catholic High School in Little Rock, Arkansas; was pastor of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Pocahontas, Arkansas, for six years; was pastor of the then-largest parish in Arkansas, Christ the King Church, in Little Rock, for 20 years; was vicar general from 1988 to 2006, and then became the administrator of the diocese for two years. He was named a protonotary apostolic by Pope Benedict XVI in 2008.
