Maison Martin Margiela
Graduating from Antwerp s Royal Academy of Fine Arts in the 1980s, Martin Margiela (and his contemporaries in the Antwerp Six) transformed global fashion with his aggressive restatement of traditional fashion design and a polemical approach to luxury trends. Working first with the house of Gaultier, Margiela absorbed the radical design of Japanese deconstruction, making it wholly his own with the founding of his own label in 1988. Margiela propounds a singular, enigmatic look, moving beyond the recognizable tropes of deconstruction a monochromatic palette, outsized garments, non-traditional fabrics, exposed seams, or roughly appliquéd details to develop a fully considered worldview, one with elegance, mystery, and menace in equal measure. This book provides an inside look at the design process from a craftsman who creates pieces prized for their originality, delicacy, and daring. In the spirit of Margiela s garments, the book is a work of art in itself, designed exclusively by Margiela and complete with silver inks, ribbon markers, a variety of lush paper types, twelve booklets, and an embroidered white-linen cover. This book provides a window onto the intimate, handmade world of a unique designer.- Shop: buecher

Palette Mini Series 01: Black & White
The best-selling PALETTE colour-themed series remains one of the most successful and sought-after references for designers around the world. Its first four editions - Black & White (Vol. 1), Multicolour (Vol. 2), Gold & Silver (Vol. 3), and NEON (Vol. 4) - form the basis of a classic collection that continues to be relevant and reliable through the variety of compelling concepts and visuals featured; in-demand even though they are no longer in print. In keeping with the ever-changing demands of creative practitioners today without losing the essence of the original series, these four fan favourites will now be repackaged and made more accessible under the PALETTE Mini series, with future releases of editions 05 - 08 to follow. Redesigned rather than reprinted for easier and more efficient reading and collecting, PALETTE Minis will be packed with style and substance like their predecessors; serving as the intriguing, instrumental, and timeless sources of inspiration that they have always been. Black & White (Vol. 1) focuses on monochromatic graphic art that manifest the versatility and striking impact of the two non-colours across 130 creative projects around the world. Despite the many colour trends and printing technologies that have emerged over the years, they form one of the most popular palettes that has never gone out of style.- Shop: buecher

Park Seo-Bo: Écriture
This is the definitive monograph on the "godfather" of Korean contemporary art, master painter Park Seo-Bo, also the founder of Korea's Dansaekhwa movement. Park Seo-Bo was born in 1931, in Yecheon, Gyeo-ngbuk, South Korea, as part of a generation that was deeply affected by the Korean War (1950-1953). While in Paris in 1961, he initially experimented with Western abstraction. Returning to Korea, he began exploring a more introspective methodology based on Taoist and Buddhist philosophies, as well as traditional Korean calligraphy. Park is best known for his "Écriture" series of paintings. Beginning in the late 1960s, this lifelong work encapsulates his deeply spiritual approach, which is inextricably linked to notions of time, space, and materiality. Park began his practice using recurrent pencil lines incised into a monochromatic freshly painted surface. He later developed this language by applying hanji (traditional Korean handmade mulberry paper), to the surface of his canvases. Along with very precise introductions of color, this transformed his practice while continuing his quest for achieving "emptiness" through a meticulous process of reduction. Beautifully showcased in this seminal book, Park's masterworks embody the core philosophy of contemplative mark-making. Evoking the natural landscapes and scenery of his motherland, Park's keen sensibility for colors, shapes, and textures traces the memories of his childhood through to his invaluable artistic and educational legacies for Korea.- Shop: buecher

Minimalist Budget: The Ultimate Guide on How to Save Money & Do More with Less! , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 130min
You are awoken early by the latest iPhone, notifying you that it is time to get ready for the day. After your shower, you adorn yourself with designer clothes, slip on your designer shoes, and protect your eyes with an expensive pair of sunglasses. Off you go in this year’s model car. Throughout the day, you are probably bombarded with advertisements asking you to purchase something. Most of these advertisements are not for something you need, but most people will buy these products. They feel they are living life to the maximum. Perhaps you are also part of this demographic! We live in a culture of consumerism. We are constantly told buying more products will improve our quality of life and bring us happiness. However, out of the madness of mass consumerism, a new trend is developing. This new trend emphasizes “less is more” and people who follow it strive to live their best life with as little as possible. This trend is called minimalism. You may have heard of minimalism in a different context. You may think of it as an art form that depicts barren landscapes, monochromatic color schemes, and a few neatly-designed objects almost self-consciously placed in different corners of a room. You imagine that minimalist living would be exactly this: having an empty space with few possessions. You may scoff at someone who is following a minimalist lifestyle and imagine they have decided to shed their possessions to live as an ascetic. But I want you to stop worrying because the minimalist lifestyle as we know it today is none of these things! If we stop to reflect we will soon learn that many of our complications are self-inflicted. You will notice that one of the biggest factors complicating your life is the chase and acquisition of material goods. Though you have acquired everything you once desired, things soon seem to lose their value and cause you more grief than joy. Yet you continue to believe that the only solution is to acquire more material ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Mike Robinson.
