The Escarpe 29 CRX features an elegant full-carbon frame that's adorned with Fox Float Factory Kashima-coated suspension front and rear, giving you a buttery-smooth ride with exceptional agility, control and traction. It's armed with a smooth-shifting Shimano XT M8100 12-Speed groupset that includes a Shimano XT chainset, a 10-51 Tooth wide-range cassette and powerful XT hydraulic disc brakes. It also rolls upon a Tubeless Ready Nukeproof Horizon V2 wheelset wrapped in Tubeless Ready 3C MaxxTerra compound Maxxis tyres. This full-suspension race bike offers outstanding composure and prowess in all-weather and all-terrain conditions, making it the ideal journey companion or race-day partner for riding anywhere on Earth. Strong and Lightweight Full-Suspension Trail Bike Dappled forest light on warm dusty trails. The soundtrack of tyres rushing through berms, nimbly threading a rock garden and the buzz of a happy freewheel. Eyes trained on the way ahead. You’re focused, but it’s easy. On the full-carbon Vitus Escarpe 29 CRX, there are no distractions. All trust and total control. But life isn’t a photoshoot, so let’s get real here. Swap in off-camber, hectic off-piste and washed-out turns, slick roots and “that climb” back to the trailhead. It doesn’t matter. The Escarpe is poised and planted - perfectly balanced to flow with you no matter where the trail goes. You and the bike are singing from the same hymn sheet. You want a bike that inspires confidence on technical descents and keeps you grinning for more, not gritting your teeth. You want a bike that holds speed and drives keenly into the climbs, keeping your legs fresh for one more run. You want to keep the weight down and the performance high. This is it. Whether braking hard, pushing more power or negotiating a twisty descent, your centre of gravity is rarely constant, so key to the whole system is efficiency. To deal with the dynamic nature of trail riding, the Escarpe stays predictable and consistent so that you can stay loose. No white knuckles here. Flip-Chip Adjustable Suspension Platform The suspension kinematics have been enhanced compared to the previous platform, further countering the effects of pedal-bob and reducing the harshness of small bumps and trail vibrations that drain your energy and kill speed. Smoother is faster for longer. With an adjustable flip-chip, that can raise the bottom bracket by 6mm and increase the head angle, you can also customise the setup to best suit how and where you ride. Vitus has ensured that geometry and performance are optimised throughout the size range, so whether you are S or XL, there’s no compromise on how this bike feels. When riding trails there’s enough to think about without having to consider how the bike is going to respond to the next turn or obstacle. You should just know. It should do what you need it to. No backchat and no fight. On the Escarpe you don’t have to compensate or compromise. You don’t have to adjust your style. Just ride. Just concentrate on having fun. The exquisite objects created by goldsmith and jeweler Peter Carl Fabergé and his studio in the late 19th and early 20th centuries for the aristocracy and nobility of imperial Russia are considered to be some of the most refined examples of the jeweler's art of any age. Of greatest fascination are the extraordinary Easter eggs created as special commissions for the Russian imperial family and other notable patrons - works that remain unparalleled in their ingenuity of construction and sheer beauty. Accompanying a major exhibition Faberge Revealed represents a landmark for the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and for Fabergé scholarship. The essays by Géza von Habsburg and other scholars present new findings on Fabergé, his workshops, and the creation of these extraordinary objects. For the first time all items by or attributed to Fabergé in VMFA's collection are documented along with the museum's significant holdings of other Russian decorative arts. Also included is a section on forgeries that bravely confronts this vexing question. Every object has been splendidly re-photographed for this book - and the detailed photography alone should provide inestimable value for future Fabergé scholarship.Richly illustrated with some 600 photographs, the volume documents an important collection bequeathed in 1947 to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts by Lillian Thomas Pratt, of Fredericksburg, Va., the wife of General Motors executive John Lee Pratt. Her collection, assembled between 1933 and 1946, comprised several hundred creations by the Faberge workshops and by other Russian imperial jewelers. These exquisite, marvelously crafted objects, range from the majestic jeweled imperial eggs to delicate jeweled flowers in vases to diamond-encrusted icons and tiaras, to animal figures nimbly carved from precious stone.Contents: Introduction by Géza von Habsburg Chapter 1: The House of Fabergé/by Géza von HabsburgChapter 2: Behind the Scenes at Fabergé: The St. Petersburg Workshops/ by Ulla Tillander-GodenhieimChapter 3: Fabergé and His Russian Competitors/ by Géza von HabsburgChapter 4: Fabergé and His Foreign Competitors Chapter 5: Mrs. Pratt's Imperial Easter Eggs / by Carol AikenChapter 6: The Zarnitza Sailor and His Place in History / by Christel Ludewig McCaniessChapter 7: Fabergé and Grand Duchess Vladimir / by Alexander von SolodkoffChapter 8: Lillian Thomas Pratt and A La Vieille Russie: A Personal Relationship/ by Mark SchafferChapter 9: Fauxbergé / by Géza von HabsburgCatalogue: Fabergé/Other Makers/Forgeries

European swan songs fly the nest From the moment she began, Rebecca Jones was whispering her paeans of broken hearted rats and autumnal loneliness to rapt Newcastle audiences. These early gigs served as a preview of a talent that, only months after she started out, has avoided all of the conventional trappings that befall most acoustic players: her haiku-esque lyrics capture glimpses of birds flying south for the summer, her songs cherry pick the percussive oddness of Tom Waits and mix it with the continental flair of Edith Piaf, and her unflinching live performances draw together the textures of woodwind, brass and string accompaniment. Rebecca has since become a unique voice in the North East music scene, happy to share a bill with unplugged or rock acts, and has won plaudits from the local music press, prompting Narc. Newspaper to include one of her recordings on a showcase CD of Tyneside-based talent. Jones' background informs much of her work... her international influences are as a direct result of her own migration: she was born in Dublin, raised in Brussels and wrote much of the album while travelling in Cambodia. She later worked with rare and endangered birds while channelling her love of the great outdoors into her music. Her repertoire now nimbly pays it's respects to American pop trailblazers Janis Joplin and Del Shannon, while at the same time encompassing the widescreen emotionalism of European heroes Jacques Brel and Carmen Linares. Only with more birds. And rats. The result is Out Of Water, her debut LP available from mid-September on Ex Libris Records.
