This is the story of Lazarus of Bethany, told through tale and tribulation. Darkness. Nothing. There was a void in the world around him, without light or sound. A heaviness weighed on Lazarus' soul as he grasped for being. He sensed in the darkness there had been light only moments before but he could not grasp what that light was. Suddenly he felt a pulse in his chest. Something heavy held his body firm. Memories flooded through his mind of heat, cattle…family. The world was somehow wrong. He tried to move but found he could not, could not raise the heaviness above him. He smelt Earth. Then, with a thrust, he pushed his bound arms out of the cave soil he was buried in and braced them on the Earth, using his weakened strength to pull upward. Earth caved in about him as he rose from his grave, his arms and legs bound with bandages. There was a cloth over his face he could not remove. He saw a faint light before him through the cloth. "Lazarus, come out," a voice beckoned. He walked slowly in his bandages toward the light and could feel a warm breeze move about him. The sun radiated in the cloth over his eyes. "Unbind him, and let him go," the voice returned. He felt coarse hands on his arms as bandages were unwrapped from him. Coolness came over his skin where they had been. Lazarus breathed heavily, unsure of what was happening. He had a vague memory of being sick before this. He was barely aware of who he was. The cloth over his face was pulled away and he squinted as sunlight blinded him. A bearded man with long, wavy hair stood in the light. Jesus, he thought in disbelief as the man approached, placing his palm on Lazarus' forehead. "You are healed, brother," Jesus told him as Lazarus' sisters rushed to his side. "You are still needed in this world." ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Charles Craig. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/003874/bk_acx0_003874_sample.mp3. Sly “Bullhorn” Brodsky wished winning the heart of Samantha Drake was as easy as protecting his quarterback. Bull tried to live down his rep as a womanizer. Locker room chatter had elevated him to the level of “player”. But Samantha Drake, stunning sister of a teammate, didn’t want to have anything to do with him. Or did she? On his best behavior, Bull pulled out all the stops to woo the reluctant beauty. Samantha is overcoming her doubts about Bull until Tiffany, a woman from his past shows up. The blonde brings more than one kind of trouble. Will it threaten only Sam’s heart or her life, too?A taste of the book:Samantha Drake was quality....She was of the “bring ’em home to mom” variety. He was lucky to have her attention. How many bruisers like him ended up with classy women? None he knew of. Maybe Bullhorn Brodsky, whose booming voice could be heard in the next county, and who could bring a three-hundred-pounder to his knees, had a shot at a relationship with this exceptional woman. Don’t blow it, Sly, he’d told himself a thousand times.Samantha closed the front door and leaned back against it. Her pulse was racing, her face was hot, and she was a bit breathless. She had never expected the big man to be able to kiss like that. Of course, if he was a major seducer, that would make sense. But he appeared to be real sweet. He’d helped her move all day then taken her to dinner-his only reward a couple of steamy kisses. Doesn’t fit with the image of a major player. He tasted like café au lait, and he smelled like a woodsy aftershave mixed with his own, unique scent. When her fingers had tightened around his biceps, a tingle had shot all the way through her. The man was solid steel. Except his warm skin. She had braced herself against his chest. She had wanted him to make love to her. A trip to Nirvana in the arms of the offensive lineman would have been heaven. But her rational mind had stepped in, putting her libid ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Jim Roberts. I felt the pain first, fire digging into my neck as something sharp split the skin open. It dragged me from a deep, healing slumber. Unable to tolerate it anymore, I forced my eyes open as the blade again bit deep into me.“What the f**k?!” I shouted as a wild haired madman pulled the knife back. His own eyes flew wide behind safety goggles as his other hand flinched away from my neck, dragging with it the ident chip that had quietly rested there for more than 20 years.“You’re not dead!” The short man took a step back, red dripping from his gloves.“I’d damn well hope not.” I struggled to sit up. Bad move. My side felt like it had been stabbed by a red hot poker. “Oh crap,” I moaned. “I’ve got to get back before they find out the job isn’t done....” Thrusters hummed in the background as I tried to identify the insignia on his uniform. Other than pegging him as Sovereignty, I didn’t recognize the distorted caduceus or black ring behind it.“No, no. I prefer you dead,” he stuttered, staggering back farther. “I don’t work on the living. They promised me - only dead ones. Aliens are okay. Even Zorixians, but not live ones.” He shook his head. “They need to know you’re not dead and take you away.”“Wait.” I stumbled as I tried to stand, my damaged body screaming in protest. Probably not a good time to tell him about the alien DNA from my father, then. Instead, I fixated on that one word, Zorixians. “I need to get back. How far are we from Zorix?”As the man tried to reach for a panel on the wall, the ship lurched, throwing us off our feet. I braced for my impact with the floor, waiting for the hot tendrils of pain to spike out from my wounds again, but they never came. It appeared the gravity in the ship cut out. “We shouldn’t be docking!” He squirmed in midair. “This isn’t right, this whole day isn’t right!” We floated awkwardly until gravity kicked back in. Then everything, including me, slammed to the floor.  ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Nikola Muckajev. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/210712/bk_acx0_210712_sample.mp3.
