John Martin's sense of adventure would lead him to achieving goals in life that many of us only dream about. Cycling around New Zealand's East Cape as a 13-year-old boy, and being part of the first BASE jump in New Zealand were just some of these. Other incidents such as getting booed off the stage while playing in the back-up band at a "Split Enz" concert, would shape the character of the person he became. The strength of this character would be tested when his Cessna Ag Wagon crop dusting aircraft crashed and burned, resulting in John receiving third degree burns to 70% of his body, face and hands. His story is not one of sadness and self-pity. The humorous and entertaining way he tells his tale makes this story, not just one of determination and courage, but a reminder to us all that sometimes "laughter is the best medicine." From this audiobook you will receive both inspiration and motivation. John's rise up from the ashes to return to flying and running a successful Tandem Skydiving business, is a testament as to what a positive attitude can do. As his story unfolds, the listener will chuckle their way through the chapters as they are taken on a journey into what makes us all tick. The spirit of a person that refuses to let even the most horrendous of life's challenges hold him back, shines through. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: John Martin. Down with the Players Alex finds herself on the shore of a distant place - a world unfamiliar. A world of fantasy and magic. A world that is a game. NPCs and players all insist she is an NPC, a part of the world. A part of the code of the game. A part of the fantasy to entertain the players. She rejects the idea, for her memories can't just be lies. Could they? Alex sets out to establish herself in the sandbox fantasy world, to find her identity, and to weather the storm between the coming players and the inhabitants of the new world. On the litRPG spectrum, this would be considered a soft litRPG. Don't expect heavy number crunching! What's in this story: Stand-alone story - no unending series Female MC Less numbers Base building Magic realism Topics that might make Asimov chuckle No harems Swearing Light sexual content The World:The Multiverse Virtual Reality, known as the MWR or MVVR, is a collection of atomic-level simulations that exist as games and research experiments. Instance_ID8092, otherwise known as the Otherworld, is a mysterious new Virtual Reality MMO that was recently revealed in the long list of VRMMOs. As soon as the players found the new game, they dove in to find an entire world thriving with NPCs. The world exists as a geographic copy of pre-war Earth with its inhabitants enjoying a pre-industrial level of technology. Not only do Southerners talk slowly, but sometimes the whole language is hard to understand. No one realizes that more than Memphis belle Leelee Satterfield. Since she debuted in Whistlin’ Dixie in a Nor’easter, Leelee has entertained tens of thousands of listeners. Watching her tackle life and love in Vermont was only the tip of the iceberg when it came to antics, charades, mischief, and romance. Now that she’s back in Memphis, and starting a new relationship with Peter, the Yankee chef from her New England inn, you’d think she’d sit back and enjoy her newly crafted life back home in Dixie. But that just wouldn’t be as much fun. Opening up a new restaurant with Peter isn’t as easy as she had anticipated, especially when it comes to the differences between the North and the South. When Leelee’s ex-husband, Baker, returns unexpectedly, everything else goes haywire. Throw her three crazy best friends into the mix; Riley, her meddlesome next-door neighbor who sells Pampered Chef for a living; and Kissie, Leelee’s beloved second mother who claims Riley sits on her “last raw nerve,” and you have the perfect recipe for a sassy, Southern delicacy. Lisa Patton's Southern as a Second Language is an endearing and chuckle-inducing tale that keeps us guessing up to the very last page how it all works out in the end. Whether among maple trees in Vermont or magnolia-filled Memphis, Leelee’s charm, heart, and laughter will delight listeners in any climate. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Lisa Patton. Experience the psychological mind-bender adventure that sends Tiz on a mysterious, motivational journey - but also into a mental institution. Their band, FLYtheBLUE, has reached the top, with number-one songs on the radio around the world. But Tiz claims a great quest is leading him on a distant adventure to places never seen, to attain things not known, and experience things never thought.... The world wants to hear his music, and all he has to do is admit the journey was make-believe...but he swears he has proof it wasn’t only in his mind. Is it real, or an illusion? His story, plus 18 songs he wrote, bring you: Journeys to Elgobon. “The ten Rules the old man said to find were mostly what interested me. ‘The secrets of life’, he said. He’s the one that encouraged my great journey. But after he spoke, as I slowly walked away from meeting him, I thought his little discourse was strange, and yet intriguing, but mostly bizarre, and I had to chuckle. He had said, ‘When you have them all, put them together and the puzzles are complete. They make up the Maps of Ages that lead to a treasure of ultimate success: gold and riches if you like, or fancy cars and mansions, or island retreats in faraway places - or perhaps the ultimate for you is peace of mind. You will have to find the Rules, reach the Mountain, and pass Gate One to fulfill your quest to reach Elgobon.’ “Then I started on my perilous, distant journey through landscapes never seen and years of time...."Music soundtrack: 30-second previews of all 18 songs, CD, and further information is available at journeystoelgobon.com. ungekürzt. Rooting about in the loft of a house that you have lived in for ages can be a dangerous activity. Especially if there are no loft boards! But recently I stumbled across a paper file in a pile of my sister’s old belongings that we have had stored up there for years for her. In it, I discovered what I believe to be the only surviving printed copy of Clerb, a short book I wrote some 27 years ago now. I created the character of Clerb especially for my sister one summer just to while away the hours while I was supposed to be doing some very exciting computer programming work. Anyhow, I dusted off the pages, set about scanning them in one by one and here is the final, finished result... exactly as it was written back then. Well almost exactly - to be honest I have corrected a few spellings and typographical errors - but the story stands unadulterated. (A really good choice of word, as I have not tried to "adult" up the story choices made by my younger self.) So now that self-publishing is just a little bit easier than way back then when I first wrote it and sent it off to a traditional publisher only to be disappointed, I thought it might be fun to finally share it with the world. Clearly, I was influenced by two huge gods of "funtastical" literature - Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett - and I would never claim to be in the same league, but since some of the jokes created by my younger self still made me chuckle nearly three decades later, it would be a shame not to spread the love and the laughter. Enjoy! ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: David Williamson. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/102248/bk_acx0_102248_sample.mp3. Digital audiobook in aax.

"The Pencils in My Drawer" is a book written for children who have experienced some hardship. While the reader is led through Leo's gallery of drawings, the artist describes the worst incident in his life: When his mother got sick and died. With his drawings, the now grown painter explains how he experienced the course of the disease. Leo talks about his feelings, his mix of emotions and the tools he used to find a way to be happy again. Furthermore, Leo tells how he started drawing, about his sister he didn't like and about his friend Finn, who was served mashed frog's legs. There are also numerous other details that will make the reader chuckle while reading a sad story, with the intention of motivating them to cope with their grief. The book is intended not to teach, but to achieve a learning effect: "Leo did it, so I can do it, too!" "The Pencils in My Drawer" proves that there is life after grief, that you can overcome anything and that it is okay if you let things slide for a while. Alongside the wonderful illustrations, the story is packed with details for the child to discover. The readers' age is irrelevant, as the intention is to rediscover happiness, whether by reading it themselves or being read to. The Blurb: ¿Leo is an artist. He owns his own gallery and has created a special children's exhibition. While strolling through his collection of drawn memories, the young audience can behold Leo's story about the worst time of his life - when his mother got sick and died. Leo has interpreted the most important events of his life and transferred them to paper in order to help other children who have also experienced something difficult or traumatic. He explains that being sad is a phase, from which a lot of good things can arise. "The Pencils in My Drawer" tells about grief, loss and hard times, but also about family, solidarity, sibling love and life after sadness.
