Wine Enthusiast: 92/100 Punkte "Barrel Sample. This is a structured wine with ample fruit notes. Swathes of blackberry and delicious, juicy acidity come together with the dry core on the palate. In a style that will age quickly, it is already showing a ripe, generous character."  James Suckling: 94/100 Punkte "Opulent and powerful for d'Armailhac with blackcurrants, blackberries and black olives. Full-bodied, tannic and extremely muscular. Very well done indeed."   Wine Spectator: 90-93/100 Punkte "Juicy and forward, with anise-tinged plum and cherry fruit backed by a light brambly structure. A lingering chalk echo adds length. This delivers nice latent depth."   Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 90-92/100 Punkte "A blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, the 2017 D'Armailhac is deep garnet-purple in color and very open on the nose with expressive notes of crushed black cherries, black raspberries and cassis with hints of baking spices, lavender and wood smoke. The palate is medium-bodied with a great core of vibrant red and black fruits, ripe, grainy tannins and superb freshness, finishing long and minerally."  Vinous (Neal Martin): 90-92/100 Punkte "The 2017 d'Armailhac has an opulent bouquet despite this comprising one of the highest percentages of Cabernet Sauvignon ever, which Philippe Dhalluin attributes to the maturity of the berries. There is some lovely cassis and blueberry fruit here with a smear of vanilla. The palate is structured with fine tannin, here the Cabernets are much more expressive with a fine bead of acidity, an attractive pencil lead tincture coming through towards the finish. This is a more floral d'Armailhac that will drink well for the next decades. [Readers should note that my sample included 60% new oak although the final blend will be 40%.] Tasted three times with consistent notes." Lesen Sie, was die Kritiker über ihn schreiben: Wine Advocate: 93/100 Punkte  »Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 D'Armailhac opens with gregarious crème de cassis, blackberry pie and mulberries scents with hints of chocolate box, roses and charcoal with a waft of dried sage. Medium-bodied, the palate has a rock-solid frame of firm, grainy tannins and wonderful freshness, finishing long and earthy.« Trinkgenuss: 2021 bis 2041 Weinwisser: 18/20 Punkte »… (62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot) Seidenes, feines Bouquet, blaue Beeren, Heidelbeeren, Damassinepflaumen, Pralinen. Süsser, feingliedriger, frischer Gaumen mit kräftiger Frucht, feinem Tannin, duftiger Aromatik, langer, eleganter Abgang.« James Suckling: 95/100 Punkte  »This is a really driven d’Armailhac showing blackcurrants and fruit tea with hints of bark on the nose and palate. Full-bodied, very firm and structured with a long and powerful finish. Direct and linear. Try after 2023.« Wine Spectator: 93/100 Punkte  »This juicy red sports dark plum, fig and boysenberry fruit backed by an equally strong wave of bramble and sweet tobacco notes. The cast-iron spine pins down the finish, so give this a little time to integrate fully. Best from 2023 through 2038.«

(91-93 Punkte) Wine Advocate: 89-91/100 Punkte  The 2015 Château d'Armailhac is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, marking a slightly higher percentage of Merlot this year. Picking began on September 16 and finished October 5 - one of the longest harvest periods for this estate, according to Philippe Dhalluin. It has a very intense bouquet with layers of small dark cherries and cassis, the oak prominent, though the final blend will contain proportionally less. The palate is very concentrated and quite showy, as d'Armailhac has a proclivity of being at this early juncture. The acidity here is nicely judged with just a touch of graphite coming through on the finish. This is a satisfactory d'Armailhac, but there was a nagging feeling that this is one wine from the Mouton Rothschild stable that left me wanting more. Perhaps that will develop during its barrel maturation? Trinkgenuss: 2023 bis 2045  James Suckling: 93/100 Punkte  Berries and smoke with some wet-earth and leather undertones. Medium to full body, round and velvety tannins and a juicy and delicious finish. Like the walnut and coffee undertone. Drink in 2020. Decanter: 92/100 Punkte  Lovely florality, lifted fruit and silky tannins. This wine has got both broader and finer over the years and is now totally complete in the feminine d’Armailhac style.  Trinkgenuss: 2021 bis 2035  WineSpectaor: 92/100 Punkte A singed vanilla and alder frame keeps a medium-weight core of plum and black currant fruit coiled up while tobacco and violet details fill in. A pretty, fine-edged chalky spine holds the finish. Best from 2021 through 2031.

(94+ Punkte) Decanter: 94/100 Punkte »This is clearly one of the most concentrated d’Armailhacs that has been produced in recent decades owing to the extremely small and concentrated berries, especially Cabernet Sauvignon, harvested at the end of the growing season. It’s also one of the best, with clear personality and power, and although still the least complex of the three Pauillacs in the Mouton stable, it should offer the best value giving a ton of rich fruit and cigar box frisson. 5% Petit Verdot makes up the blend. 3.7pH. Tasted several times – always with the same impression. Drinking Window 2026 - 2040«  Falstaff: 94/100 Punkte »Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Reife Herzkirschen, Brombeerkonfit, ein Hauch von frischen Orangenzesten, einladendes Bukett, zarte Edelholznuancen. Saftig, reife dunkle Frucht, feine Süße, integrierte Tannine, frisch strukturiert, schokoladiger Touch im Abgang, gute Länge, ein feinwürziger Speisenbegleiter.«  James Suckling: 93-94/100 Punkte »A soft and generous red with plum, tobacco and currant character and a delicious, full body and brightness. Juicy. Attractive, earthy aftertaste. Layered and dense.« Wine Enthusiast: 92-94/100 Punkte »Barrel Sample. With over half Cabernet Sauvignon, this is a rich and juicy wine that is finely structured and shows a touch of integrated toasty spice. It shows a good balance of oak and fruit on the finish.« Wine Spectator: 91-94/100 Punkte »Lively cassis and blackberry notes are liberally laced with briar, tobacco and smoky details. Reveals a serious chalky underpinning on the finish. A bit backward, but all the elements are here.« Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 91-93/100 Punkte »The 2018 D'Armailhac (14.5% alcohol) is composed of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, harvested September 12 to October 3. Deep garnet-purple colored, it reveals a very fruity nose of crushed blackberries, warm black cherries and mulberries plus hints of potpourri, spice cake and pencil shavings. Full-bodied, the decadent palate delivers loads of black berry layers and a firm, grainy frame with underlying freshness and an earthy finish. Wonderfully opulent D’Armailhac!« Vinum: 17/20 Punkte »Von besonders dichter, kompakter, fester, kerniger Art, robustes Tannin ohne Härte, fruchtiges Finale, ausgezeichnet auch in diesem Jahr.

Medium to full-bodied, the palate reveals mouth-filling, juicy black berry flavors with approachable, grainy tannins and wonderful freshness on the finish. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown) Trinkgenuss: 2019 bis 2034
